That's the channel number it's been assigned now. It may change when it becomes available to subscribers. VM seem to be shifting HD channels further down the EPG which would suggest they could soon be employing a HD channel swap like on Sky.

Sorry what's been confirmed by C4? VM's Film4 HD exclusivity ended the day it became available on Sky, which is a no brainer. That also marked the end of the previous carriage agreement VM and C4 had which gave us that exclusivity of Film4 HD for a little over 3 years. As I mentioned before More 4 HD had been broadcasting way before Sky added it. Since 2011 in fact: http://www.channel4.com/media/docume...veryFormat.pdf Just because it was "broadcast" does not make available, as far as I am aware, prior to it appearing on the Sky EPG it was not available in any medium to the general public in HD. All Sky did was make the channel available on there platform too like VM are going to do. If there was any exclusivity it was More 4 who had it through live streaming of the HD channel on their website. Exclusivity on Sky would be an "exclusivity to list and advertise the availability of a channel with a subscription package", therefore Sky had exclusivity, as it wasnt available on all packages. Plus the fact both Channel 4 and Sky have said that it is available exclusively on that platform. this is pathetic. |

The C4 and Sky press release: http://corporate.sky.com/media/press...t_of_channel_4 Notice there's no mention of exclusivity. Red Bee started playout of More4 HD in late 2011. The feed was only available on the More4 website before becoming available on Sky. Yes Sky was the first TV platform to offer the channel but people had been able to watch the channel before they did, which means Sky didn't have to pay C4 to set up the channel resulting in platform exclusivity. |

Universal HD is the most wanted non Sky HD channel in my opinion.
It annoys me to see "available in HD" on the Universal On Demand adverts before the programme starts. It does beg the question why Universal HD and E! HD were not included when VM renewed their carriage agreement with NBC Universal ? Style launched , Syfy and Universal added to Virgin TV Anywhere , Syfy and Universal added to On Demand.

If you guys could refrain from bickering please, it's adding nothing to the discussion and is becoming very childish.
A channel carried solely on one platform is technically "exclusive" but that doesn't necessarily mean that the carriage contract has an exclusivity clause. Channel numbers for new channels have been suggested previously but have changed with a minor channel reorganisation at the point of launch, it's not a big deal. There are several people on both forums with a good track record for bringing accurate information about new channel launches, that's not a guarantee that everything they suggest will actually happen. There are also people who simply make stuff up, which sometimes turns out to be a lucky guess but usually doesn't. There will always be speculation and rumour, if you can't live with less than 100% accuracy, don't read these threads. |

Much of what is supposedly testing can be confirmed by hooking up many modern TVs to the network. The speculation of "internal" tests are baseless and there's no reason for such tests for an experienced operator that knows how to work a DVB-C network, transcoders and all the associated hardware. |

My concern is that the "coming soon" thread on the other forum isn't clearly identified as a mainly speculative thread, with "sources" being almost anyone who states anything (indeed, I am now a source). It states channels are testing that blatantly aren't, and therefore people reading it believe that Virgin, or someone authoritative with information, have confirmed these as imminent launches.
Don't worry about being named as a source, if a poster doesn't disclose where they got the info, others will invariably ask for the source. At least they've not referred to you as an "insider" ..yet. ![]() Quote:

They perhaps don't test enough, or problems such as the delay in launching the ITV HD channels would have become obvious before the 11th hour. As for the reported "tests", I generally take these claims with a pinch of salt. Even though I have equipment with cable tuners, it's not something I'd bother trying to verify.

You are incorrectly assuming my profile is up to date. I'm interested because there is a massive misrepresentation going on that I feel makes VM look bad to the public because they expect these fabricated stories to occur.

I think a huge reshuffle will be coming before Christmas , don't be too surprised to see something similar to Sky with HD channels such as SKY1HD will be on 121 etc.

But VM package their HD channels differently. Take for example ITV2,3 & 4. Would M+ and L customers see the SD variants swapped to the 180s despite not having access to the HD channels? Is it also possible that the reason for the current moving of HD channels further down the EPG is because more customers can access +1 channels (M+,L, XL) than HD channels (XL only)? In terms of viewing figures, it could be more worthwhile to have +1s nearer the top of the EPG than HD channels. |

true, however it shouldn't be too hard.
TiVo us had HD channel swap, it's inbuilt into the software, and presumably could just have a channelmap installed? so say you went to 101 BBC 1, it would look for HD swap = on if it is, it'll see a flag set that says 108 and flipt o it automatically. |
