OK, ocav, do these links work for you? https://twitter.com/PremierSportsTV/...82031820873728 https://twitter.com/PremierSportsTV/...79770198388736

If not then please let me know. I'd say they were cryptic but promising.
Ooh that is quite cryptic!

I've realised I couldn't see it as I had the "No Replies" button checked

Indeed, ocav, and that response could be taken to indicate that discreet discussions at some level were taking place between Premier Sports and Virgin Media. There's just under a fortnight to go and I hope that this one doesn't end up going to the wire like the BT/Virgin Media talks.

Except this one. Criticise CF or Meeja Boy and DS revoke our right to discuss this topic.
No they really don't

I know you're speculating but don't hold your breath, think the deal is dead.

For me it'd be Sky Atlantic HD, no contest. Don't really see the point of HD on news channels.

Why?

The News broadcasters stopped their SD versions of their channels around the world like NHK, it is only Sky AND a few others that have not done so like Fox, the BBC etc

More News channels will become HD only in the years to come

Purely for the amount of 'on location' reports from satphones and standard cameras, what's the point of HD on that?

It'd be HD in the studio but that's probably about it.

There is no TV where the use of HD is absolutely necessary. There is some genres of TV where HD is more useful; like wildlife docos. TV news (of any description) does not need HD.

So why is NHK News broadcasting in HD only?

Not really 'new' channels but have noticed recently that BBC THREE has become BBC 3, and BBC FOUR is now BBC 4

Carl i always disregard your posts as a little bit of a laugh, because they are always so biased towards Virgin Media.

I think any genre of TV needs HD, it's the evolution of television. To say that because of some report in Syria is not HD then the rest shouldn't be in HD is silly.

Thats like implying that the whole of F1 shouldn't be in HD just because the driver cam isn't in HD.

Most national reports on the BBC and Sky on OB's are now in HD, and more to the point when reading text on the screen of a 40" or above tv it's always easier on the eye with it being clear and crisp.

Finally, we don't NEED tv at all... so based on your argument, we should all sell our TVs.

The vast majority of news channels still operate SD versions, even NHK (just not in the UK).

Arise News relaunched on Sky last week, this time without a HD version.

It's good to see Al Jazeera are launching in HD on DTT, and BBC News HD is planned too, as more HD news is definitely welcome - but the SD versions will be around for a long time to come.

Nicely put! The picture is always nicer in HD and I really can't understand people who actually argue against HD. Unless of course either they don't have an HD ready TV set or their screens are small enough so that the picture is also sharp in SD.

In my opinion, if you have a larger screen, only HD will do.

The same could be said of colour and of progammes with sound.

Hell, they could just send us flip-books through the post.

And if you don't - nobody cares!

Honestly, I detest the "lets hold back progress" line. If those people had their way we'd never have discovered fire or travelled beyond our caves.

That article is dated 7th October. Premier Sports' tweets which said "stranger things have happened" when asked if Premier would launch on Virgin Media before the Rugby League World Cup starts are dated 11th October so supercede this article.

As an aside, it was interesting to read in the Love Rugby League article that VM had approached Premier Sports and was negotiating to include it in the XL pack until it did a deal with BT Sport.

I only have a 32inch tv atm that's most likely why i don't hardly see any difference between HD and SD.
No doubt when i get my 42inch tv in December i will most certainly see a huge difference between HD and SD.
