Yes but if you don't subscribe to the movie pack you can now subscribe to MGMHD on it's own for £5p/m.

That's always been the case since the channel launched.
https://corporate.sky.com/media/pres...es/2009/mgm_hd

On Liberty Global owned UPC Ireland MGM HD is included in their Horizon TV packs , isn't included in the Sky Movies pack and isn't available standalone.

Apologies if this has been covered already but are we to get Lifetime, to replace Bio?

As far as i'm aware Lifetime will be on VM in the M+ package , not sure if VM will get LifetimeHD though. I'd imagine it will be on VM in the XL pack.

Thanks for that.

MGM was available in Ireland via NTL cable 4 years before Sky got involved with it and offered it on its platform, there may be seperate carriage agreements in place.

According to poster Richard Coulter over on Cable Forum, Virgin Media has made Premier Sports an improved offer and is waiting a reply.

Again no source other than a tweet that doesn't say very much. All this new chat is based on the rugby league World Cup on a minority channel very few subscribers will take and nobody will leave Virgin over.

I would very much doubt any such improved offer exists and don't see the channel appearing. It is more likely to fold than join Virgin.

The whole point of having cable TV is to get minority channels. If we just wanted mass market channels we'd all stick with freeview.

In fact I think cable has not been as strong on minority channels as it might. Witness BT signing up Curzon Online and TalkTalk signing up Afrikans channels.

For what it's worth, the poster on Cable Forum seems to suggest he has some kind of inside knowledge. Unfortunately, we have imperfect knowledge on the Premier Sports situation but that should not deter those of us who are interested from sharing what we do have. You never know, someone may be able to add to it.

Or more likely it'll be one of the "end of the world is nigh moments". Given the end of the world will happen, in an unknown timescale, many will claim to predict it simply hoping to be right out of chance.

Interestingly, no one has stated that Premier Sports will come to VM, in contrast to say channels like Sky Atlantic. We've just had i) a few cryptic postings from Premier Sports on social media and ii) the comments I've recently referred to on Cable Forum suggesting an improved offer had been made to Premier Sports and the ball's in their court.

Technix predicted here on DS the arrival of Premier Sports on VM and gave a channel number. Technix has a good record of being correct.

Rumours tonight on twitter from the editor of love Rugby League that Premier is coming to Virgin and will be free unsure if that means XL customers or everyone.

We now have a chance to test the theory that channels are not launched without testing in your area. (If I've interpreted matters correctly).
Do you have time today to see if any more channels testing at the moment?
Media Boy is reporting that a new channel will launch before the weekend. If it's Fox+ or More 4HD it will bear out the theory. If it's another channel it will suggest that not all channels test before launch.

It's Premier Sport which is being added to channel 551, as originally reported in this thread. Tomorrow's looking likely as new channels are usually added on a Tuesday or a Thursday. More 4 HD was added to channel 203 earlier this month.

Many thanks, that's good news for my dad. Can we assume this will launch straight away then without the testing that some channels go through?

Is Premier Sports to be a standalone channel with additional subscription charge or will it be included in XL ? If it is that makes XL even better value for money.

Don't think we know yet, but my own interpretation of the tweets is that it will be free for all or part of the RLWC and then probably subscription afterwards.

I can confirm Premier Sports and Fox+ are testing.
