I'm not disputing that it's a good deal - I have it as part of a Mate's Rates offer.

I'm simply saying the costs have to come from the customers one way or the other and it's naive to think price rises (of all services and bundles) since Setanta haven't in some way been used to cover the cost. It's naive to think otherwise.

It's the last I'm going to say on it because its off-topic.
Sorry Sirius, I thought you didn't have a subscription? So how can you have it on mates rates?

If you re-read my posts carefully you will find I have made no such claim. You are making assumptions based on what I say in the FTA channels thread when at no point do I say I am not a present subscriber simply I have used a previous disconnection to illustrate my point.

It's also possible to have two homes and therefore manage two sets of telephony/tv and broadband subscriptions.

Wow you sound more shady than ever.

Just to end the argument for the FTA thread, if you are a subscriber, the you checking the cable on your TV is breaking the T&Cs so well done you backfired on yourself.
I would hardly classify the range of reasons you appear unable to comprehend as to why someone can simultaneously be both a present and former subscriber to a cable service as "shady". Far from putting the argument to bed you have simply resorted to insulting me because you are unable to substantiate your assertions the non-encryption is a clause in the Communications Act 2003.

I can also understand your upset at people having information more reliable than Meeja Boy but there is no reason to take that out on me.

Has anyone ever said they think Virgin are giving us anything as a charity while picking up the bill themselves?
Of course they're not.

Obviously the costs are somewhere but for XL viewers over the last 5 or 6 years the price increases have barely changed so since the days of just BBC HD we have all these HD channels and even the BT Sport / ESPN packages for no extra.

Which is why its fair to say these channels are free in comparison with Sky

Read back in the thread you do find the assertion that the content is "free" which started this debate.

Agreed and for the reason I explain in the post you quote it is quite fair to say it is free in comparison to Sky

When we get Buy One Get One Free offers in supermarkets does anybody really think the supermarket are letting some of their profits go to give us a better deal ?
No- we know that the costs are made up for somewhere (or they would go out of business) but we enjoy the offer anyway.

The lack of large increases in XL over the last 5 years make it fair to say that all the HD (bar movies and sport) aswell as BT Sport are free .
But it will be interesting to see the amount of the next increase.

Since Media Boy doesn't post on here, it's worth having the updates for those of us not on Cable Forum.

Carry on, Asian Channel, as far as I'm concerned.

I think the problem is not that Asian Channel (Digital Spy) is posting the same information as Media Boy (Cable Forum) but the etiquette surely should be that if you copy and paste another's post you give the credit where it's due and not say that the information you are providing is your own exclusive .

Asian Channel is posting this stuff in an attempt to take the piss. He thinks people are laughing with him when in fact everyone is laughing at how much of a plonker he is being.

It also breaches copyright so Media Boy or Cable forum could request Asian Channel's posts are removed if they wished.

This is how things should be posted if taken from other forums.1andrew1 is doing it correctly by giving credit to both the source and the site

I don't believe anyone is so precious about what they post on discussion forums that they would evoke copyright laws and prey they don't seek expulsion for matters so trivial. If it was hurtful and slanderous trolling, I'm sure (or hope) forum teams would then get involved.

Oh god, these idiots are back acting like children.

I'll not say what i'd like to because it would just get deleted anyway but I wish these sad-acts would take their childish behaviour to the playground where it belongs.

I don't think for a second that posts on any forum would be protected by any kind of copyright.
Although it is courtesy to credit someone if you repeat their info although Media Boy appears to be guesswork that anyone on here could do anyway

I doubt it, it's only available with the Sky Movies Pack/£5 extra on Sky.

Then it will be part of the Sky Movies Collection pack and the VIP pack

BT Sport is not part of any pack on Sky but thats in XL.
As we've already got TCM and TCM HD there is a chance of MGM going into XL but isn't it a commercial free channel like Sky Movies so films run uninterrupted ? If that's the case I would expect it to be part of a Movies sub only

Yeah it's like the Sky Movies channels.

The difference between BT Sport and MGM HD is that Sky don't own half of BT Sport, hence why I doubt Virgin will get a better deal than Sky customers on that one.

According to information received, MGM HD won't be launching on Thursday. It is likely to launch with the Sky channels that are due.
