I tried to replicate my package on Sky's website and it seemed to be telling me it was £30 dearer, which I was a bit surprised at reading this thread

The fact IS that for many, Sky is better value with better content. It certainly IS for me.
Come on, man! We have all the TV channels worth having (with the notable exception of Sky Atlantic), over 500 hours of films on Virgin Movies as well as Sky Movies and Picture Box, we have music on demand and a whole range of on demand content with dramas, catch up TV and so on.

Sky is still catching up, and the additional free to air channels that you have access to on Sky aren't worth a light. So I don't know where you get the idea that Sky has better content. It just doesn't stack up.

Probably because each individuals requirements are different , I also personally find Sky and its content better for my requirements were for you it's VM , we can compare services all day but at the end of the day each individual has different requirements.

Just reading a post Ben has linked to in the V+HD forum:

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...D/td-p/1310097

Confirmation we're getting more channels very soon?
Media Boy has now stated that there is to be one extra SD channel coming, in addition to those already announced.

It is a channel that is currently broadcasting on satellite.

Itv 4 HD would be nice for the football, the worst game for PQ was the Rapid Vienna v Aston Villa tie in 2010........unwatchable.

Saying that, the Spurs game last night was OK.

MediaBoy has updated the Entertainment Channels that we could be getting.

Anything decent on the LIST score off, as its the usual Free rubbish that will be `coming soon`.

If it was`nt for MB, we would not have a clue about VirginMedia.

In your opinion , i am looking forward to the ITV HD channels especially ITV4 HD.

ITV HD channels are 3 of the 4 most wanted channels imo.

I don't have HD telly so they mean nothing to me. I was hoping an agreement with Sky Atlantic would be reached soon.

Hmmmmmmmmm another channel (pick 1 of any in that sd list) I don't want but will have to pay for.
Roll on the internet revolution when we will be able to actually choose and pay for just the channels we want,
and it should be a revolution VM are in a position to exploit, they may lose tv subs but have an internet infrastucture that should gain customers.

I'm referring to Sky Atlantic content , shows such as Boardwalk Empire , The Newsroom , Game of thrones , The British and my personal favourite Blue Bloods. My main requirement is HD having three decent sized HDTV's and Sky provide me with over 60 meaning SD is fast becoming a thing of the past , as I say each individual has different requirements many aren't fussed about HD and VM's BB speeds can't be bettered plus the TIVO offers more advanced functionality if that's important to you.

I quite agree, where I live I can't get Sky (although VM don't know that so I get a reasonably good deal each year)
but if I could I'd happilly pay more for Sky tv and keep VM BB.
Its not impossile to get most HD content available from Sky via other means but I shouldn't have to be a pirate when if I had the chance I'd pay.

That is what i think - imo a dire channel i would sadly not be able to delete from the EPG.
