You seem to be struggling to understand what exactly was launched today.

If you look closely, you can see that space has been left at 506 and 516 for SS5+HD.

SSN SD has been moved to 501 which leaves 517 for the HD variant WHEN it launches later on this summer.

There may be a chance that Virgin could shift the channels down one and squeeze SSN SD onto 507 to match this up, but it's not completely necessary.
i know what was launched. but he numbering seems strange

I think the best way would've been

501 Sky Sports 1
502 Sky Sports 2
503 Sky Sports 3
504 Sky Sports 4
506 Sky Sports F1
507 Sky Sports News

511 Sky Sports 1 HD
512 Sky Sports 2 HD
513 Sky Sports 3 HD
514 Sky Sports 4 HD
516 Sky Sports F1 HD

Or

500 Sky Sports News
501 Sky Sports 1
502 Sky Sports 2
503 Sky Sports 3
504 Sky Sports 4
506 Sky Sports F1

511 Sky Sports 1 HD
512 Sky Sports 2 HD
513 Sky Sports 3 HD
514 Sky Sports 4 HD
516 Sky Sports F1 HD
The first idea is the best and I agree with it

100% of VM customers have Sky Sports News whilst 20% have the Sky Sports channels hence Sports' more prominent EPG slot.

If that is the case I don't see why they didn't use 500 it's an easier number to remember also

With the exception of 200 most of the 00 channels are used for Virgin promotions/own products like 100 is On Demand Preview, 300 V Music OD, 400 Virgin movies Previews... so persumably 500 is left if Virgin want to do any kind of Sport preview.

Maybe it is me but what difference does it make what number the channel is assigned to as long as you can get it. It's a simple press of the button on the remote and if you can't remember the number there's a handy EPG.

I preferred the old analogue system where you could assign your own EPG Numbers and put the channels in the order you want them, I don't understand why this isn't an option on modern STB's?

Could you do that on analogue?

I know it was possible right at the beginning with Telewest Active Digital. But it all changed once the first big software update was released (the one which enabled red button)

Because when you looked at say Challenge underneath was Challenge +1 and you could see what was on both now you have to search it was alright as it was.

Why don't you go backwards in the EPG on Challenge (scrolling to the left) and work out what should be on the +1?

Not that it's a big secret, but Sky Sports 5 and HD are now testing on Virgin.

Wonder if it's a coincidence that in the days since the new channels were added my TV keeps going off suddenly. It's happened a few times
Programmes I've V+ have been cut in half because of the telly switching off at all hours.
It suddenly went off this morning just after I switched it on.

And of course all the radio programme information on the EPG has gone for the rest of the week.

I think there's no price increase for Sky Sports if you've taken out the Season Ticket offer.

truTV will be available on VM channel 245 when it launches next month.

In order to allow older boxes to continue functioning, the synopsis has been permanently removed from all radio stations on the V+, apart from Radio 5.

The BBC radio channels, however, have their own red button guide which becomes available after tuning to the relevant channel.

The renumbering was a Sky initiative and formed part of the negotiations to secure carriage for the remaining HD sports channels.

Forget sports we need a better movies channels, or cheaper filmflex.

Also correct me if wrong, does any channel actually show any of the followin UK Sports

Ice Hockey, Baseball/Softball, Hockey, volleyball. Babminton and youth sports tournaments

(I know Eurosport show some but not seen these)
