Has a date been confirmed when Sky News HD and Sky Sports News HD will become available?

TruTV, a hidden BBC Alba stream and a BT Sport Extra (presumably a red button service) channel are testing.

No, it's strategically priced out of reach of Sky's competitors so not available on UPC, TalkTalk, BT or Virgin. That's business and Sky's perogative.

BT Sport extra might actually be another channel, as both 1 and 2 are quite jam packed.

Although could be via red button as you say, like how sky are doing it.

They seem to favour sport fans so I wouldn't hold your breath , the XL pack does need new entertainment and on demand content though , not everyone is interested in BT Sport which they're paying about 3.50 per month per subscriber for.

Whilst I would agree to a point, I think 1andrew1 gave an answer closer to the mark.

According to a poster on the YouView forum:

Zulu17 A further channel 527 BT Sport Extra 1 is now in the BT Youview EPG - currently broadcasting just a logo and music. No sign of an HD variant of this channel.
Has French football scheduled on Friday evening and further French & Portuguese matches over the weekend.

BT Sport Extra launches on September 19 on BT TV (except to those receiving the service via a TV aerial) and on the Sky Digital Satellite Platform.
BT Sport Extra is included automatically within customers' existing BT Sport pack and will also be available on Virgin Media in the coming weeks.
Channel 527 on BT, red button on SKY, doesn't specify which on Virgin.

Media Boy on Cable Forum states it will be via Red Button on VM, launching 25/9 on TiVo and 3/10 on VM's other boxes.

What's the deal with Universal HD - is it part of Sky? Never really watched it apart from How To Get Away With Murder, and was surprised that the HD version isn't on Sky.

Ah, thanks Carl. I probably could have looked - I guess it's less obviously Sky as its not Sky branded. Plus it's hardly a big draw like Atlantic is.

That last bit was a typo - I meant surprised it wasn't on Virgin.

99% of the channels on satellite aren't Sky branded

Oh, okay.

I meant Sky owned channel, which would make it part of Virgin's deal with Sky.

Not simply a channel on Sky.

The former would be an obvious reason it wasn't on Virgin.

The later wouldn't be.

The V+ EPG has been reduced by a further day. A VM employee has said that this is to accommodate further channel launches, so it could be for these, unless it's being done in preparation for SSN HD and Sky News HD and/or the extra Channel 4 HD channels

I am sure they will add it to the January's one unless they do a new one for December
