Err i thought it already was on par with sky?

I dont count chelsea TV, LFC TV, Arsenal TV and MUTV. those are real niche niche niche, same with Racing UK, and Box Nation.

History HD and National Geographic Wild HD would be a great addition to Virgin's Channel Lineup

Seen a rumour that three GEO channels are due to start on VM and are currently testing.

Can anyone check if their tests are viewable off the EPG?

We should be seeing this year BBC One +1 regions and with hope BBC One HD regions too.
Along with the Hope for ....
HISTORY HD
Channel 4 +1 HD
4Seven HD
Fox News

Also the America owners could bring over some channels that are not here yet.

But the trouble the EPG needs a clean up and move to free up lower channel numbers as last move has not last long with only about 7 spaces until we get to the Doc's .

Still no sign of UniversalHD. Anyone know when the contract is up for renewal?

The EPG is being gradually tidied up. The porn channels and some radio channels have recently been moved.

I doubt fox news will make it onto Virgin given fox's connection with Sky

Don't see why not, the vast majority of Sky channels are available on the Virgin Media platform.

Yes but sky might want it as an exclusive,?

I'd be happy for Sky to keep that channel exclusive to their own platform!

I think you are the first person I've seen mention Universal HD - that said I'm not a major visitor here.

I know it doesn't have the scale of shows that others can lay claim to, but it does still get a few exclusives - such as Rookie Blue and Sleepy Hollow. Whilst those not interested in such shows may think *YAWN* - we are an eclectic bunch, and there's no 'right' or 'wrong' in terms of taste..each to their own.

It always surprised me that this fairly inocuous channel was not included back when we received the bulk of channels we now enjoy. I mean, it hardly seems like a channel that Sky would/should feel the need to hold back, in the obvious way they do Atlantic,

That's just a thought/observation. As I say, just an infrequent visitor who would also like (not life changing levels..lol) to see Uni HD as part of the package.

I would also like to see Universal HD added, for Bates Motel and How To Get Away With Murder, they have a decent lineup of shows and the SD picture quality is poor.

Yeah. It doesn't get many mentions, but I don't think I'm the first one to mention it. I'm more than okay with the SD version (I'm not an HD snob like some people on here ) but the HD version would be welcome.

Indeed.

It's nothing to do with Sky so they would have no say in the matter.

Totally agree - a lot less clarity than any most other SD channels.

And my bad & thanks carl - had always mistakenly believed Sky called the shots for a reason that frankly now eludes me..!

It's because Sky like to tout the illusion that they own/control everything in connection with Pay TV, which, of course, they don't.

I remember in the days of analogue satellite, Sky would have you believe that all the English channels were theirs eg Eurosport, Lifestyle, The Childrens Channel, Screensport etc.

I love the way Vm doesn't carry Fox News..... It's a nasty piece of work.

This is why "Sky" has become the media equivalent of "Hoover".

I couldn't agree more. There are some excellent programs on here but the SD picture is appalling so we do need the HD version.

Or maybe VM just need to up the bitrate?

I'd be interested to see what the bitrates are for the various channels.
