Been given information that BT Sport Europe will be included in XL, but the price is due to go up by £3.

Lifestyle HD to start soon on VM.
I think that's a error and they might mean lifetimehd.

Subsequent reports are that there will be a £3 increase and that letters are due to be sent out to all affected subscribers

Agreed

No any new channels but he Sky Sports SD & HD have swapped over channel numbers, so HD now runs from 501 to 507.

Not yet but if you look you will see 2 extra PIN Help channels..(968 & 981) Maybe more channels are testing or it may be just placeholders for BT Sport EUROPE and HD

I'd assume the two extra "PIN Protection Help" channels will be used as buffer channels at the start and end of the 'Adult' genre in much the same way as Sky use their "Sky Intro" channels on 899 & 950 (the start & end of their 'Adult' genre).

Ah... you're probably right. They show up together on my box, as I have my box set not to display adult channels on the EPG

Virgin Media are currently testing a channel called 'BT Extra 1' off the EPG.

Many other channels changed places too. New list here:

BT Sport Europe (532) and BT Sport Europe HD (529) were added to the EPG shortly after midnight.

I believe that's just a rebrand of the original BT Sport Extra channel in preparation for the launch of the other Extra streams, rather than a test of anything new.

Interestingly/worryingly, there's no red button service on BT Sport Europe yet - presumably that will launch once all the other Extra streams are up and running.

I've been asked by a fair few people for more info on this, so will reply on here.

Apparently, others have heard that Sky are to launch two new non Premium sports channels: Sky Sports Discover/y and Sky Sports Select.

I was specifically told about only one and that it's name had not yet been finalised.

I'll provide more info. if and when I get it

Fantastic for those who love sport. Not-so-much for the rest of us. Yet we all get to pay more!

I totally agree Carl.

Some people have suggested that a non Sport and/or HD XL package should be created; but others have argued that attracting sports fans to the platform who wouldn't otherwise subscribe helps to keep the costs down for the rest of us.

Yes Virgin need action it's TV packages and also number channels too.
1) BT sports needs to be in a package like sky sports so costs are for sports people and not XL customers that just like a wide choice of channels.
2) Even with the last EPG move I feel that more space in areas are needed and also they need action with orders of SD SD+1 HD or HD SD SD+1 or SD HD SD+1 or HD SD+1 SD
and not mix like they are now.
After years we still do not have HISTORY HD and others that have been said are to come to Virgin so what is to come now when space is ready ?

Why Virgin not brought a few channels from it's sister services in the USA yet as Virgin is owned by USA cable company ?

Because we don't want US channels we want UK ones? Plus I don't think they'd allow it anyway due to programme rights issues.
