New channels for those on M+:

FOX and FOX+1 have moved permanently to M+.

They need more new content. Re-runs of Weeds and Mad Men don't make it a must-have channel IMHO. On the other hand, Sky Atlantic has several programmes in their top 10 rating 70k-80k, so considering AMC is available in just a fraction of the number of homes, it might not be too bad.

Interesting development. I think all the channels I watch regularly are now in the M+ package so I'd consider downgrading from XL if I didn't feel I was getting good value. I would miss the HD varients though if I did.

What packages is Lifetime part of?

BTSPORTFREE now on 548. No schedule info yet though. I assume because the channel hasn't actually launched yet.

(Sorry if this is old news but I only just spotted it.)

I know it's been reported as "testing" but wasn't sure if it had been given an actual EPG entry yet.

Indeed it is. Like we need another sports channel

Depends on the "we". For those not having the sports package, it might be an added bonus.

yep its on the TiVo EPG.

can't remember the number, it's not another sports channel. it's a simulcast (i.e cloned from BTSP Europe)

it only activates when champions league football / europa league is on. However you cannot access the red button extra matches or the additional match on BTSP 1 or 2.

Additional cost is nil. it's just an LCN with no encryption strapped.

With a 28" tv, and bad eyesight dropped back to M+.
Really had XL for BT sport. But working shifts, missed so much just seemed pointless.

There were four new Worldbox channels announced ages ago and they didn't appear.

Has Virgin Media ever explained why or if the channels are still coming, or any other Worldbox activity for that matter?

VM has never commented on channel launches before they happen.

A possible sign that AMC is on it's way to cable.

Apparently, it's being transmitted on the Eutelsat satellite at 10 degrees east and is encrypted with B.I.S.S. under the label 'MGM ME'.

By inserting keys, it has been possible to circumvent the encryption and identify the channel being shown.

This satellite is used for professional transmissions, such as to cable operators, as opposed to Direct To Home (DTH) use like Astra 28° East.

It seems to have been broadcasting since at least June according to this site http://www.khansolangi.com/mgm-meamc...-key-9-6-2015/.

MGM ME could be MGM Middle East, which was re-branded to AMC at the end of 2014. It would be strange for BT to pay twice for bandwidth for AMC UK when Virgin seem to take the 28E feeds of all of BT's other channels.

It's been suggested that it's used by the former UPC (now Virgin Media) part of Southern Island.

Now that Liberty Global own both companies, it will be interesting to see what happens.

New FTA channel to start within 18 months. No idea if it will be carried by VM, but if Spike, TruTV etc are anything to go by...

They are in negotiations to partner with Sky, Netflix, ITV and Channel 4. A contact tells me that they are not (up to press) in negotiation with VM.

It's good to see customers benefitting from Liberty Global's scale to bring previously unavailable channels to our screens. Viacom next?

It is good news.

Lifetime HD appeared on the VM EPG on 1 October 2015, I wonder what other channels could appear as a result of this announcement.
