As expected, Extreme Sports has now closed. It will be interesting to see if 'Bike' starts tomorrow.
Not sure about tomorrow, but the programme guide has listings again from Monday 11th - could be an error as the programmes are very similar, but some are marked as 'new'.

All of the music on demand slates now say 'Channel no longer available' as of 6am next Tuesday 12th.

Channel 300 says 'coming soon' from this Friday, so we may get more information about the new Vevo service later this week.

Looking forward to the new service, provided by a proper music video distributor.

The outdated VM service has only been of value to XL customers as the costs of one-off rentals are ridiculous, and even then there have been tons of music videos from major artists not included due to VM not having deals with all the big players.

It'll also be nice having all the static slates on channels 301-309 taken off the EPG.

Apologies, this should have read as 'Food Network HD'.

It could still be an On Demand service for all set top boxes. Whereas apps such as Worldbox and the club landscaping test have programme info stating "tivo customers only", the Vevo test doesn't, so it's likely it will be available to all customers in some form. Tivo customers currently have a dedicated Virgin Music On Demand app, while V/V+ can still access videos on demand - so it may well remain the same with the new Vevo service.
Just launched:

VEVO now on channel 344

AKAClublandChilledNow now on channel 345

Even by VM's standards they've poorly implemented this, it just looks very unprofessional.

The EPG position for the AKA/Clubland/Chilled/Now app is actually titled ClubldAKA and has some weird made up logo using the C from Clubland and AKA next to it, so looks ridiculous.

Press Red on channel 300 and it very slowly loads a menu screen with links to the Vevo app and the AKA, Clubland, Chilled and Now Music streams with an image slideshow on the right which loads in chunks like the days of dial up internet, the streams are hardly on demand content anyway.

Vevo app is, like most of VM's other apps, so very slow and clunky, you can't even use the letter buttons on your remote to search.

Akachilled channel does look cheap, is there any reason technical or otherwise that they didn't launch as separate channels like they are on Sky?

They both seem to be reasonably responsive once loaded (though nothing to shout about), but the boot time is slow. It took just under 90 seconds to load the Clubland app on my box tonight - I don't think many people will sit and wait that long for 4 channels to load when there are up to 16 other music channels (including similar genres) they can tune to almost instantaneously. Not only that, but it also takes an age to exit the app (especially annoying if you 'surf' the music channels).

Vevo seems to work better than youtube - can you pair the Tivo app to the mobile app and search that way (similar to youtube)?

Really the 4 new music channels from AATW should just be available in the EPG as proper channels like all the other music channels instead of this daft cheap looking solution that makes it slow & clunky for viewers to access their low picture quality streams via the app.

However if they insist on going down this route shouldn't they just call it AATW Music in the EPG which is the name of the company behind the 4 channels (see www.aatw.com www.twitter.com/aatwofficial and www.facebook.com/aatwofficial) using the AATW logo.

In the app section, its titled Clubland AKA with the 4 logos in the graphic above, again surely it should be titled AATV Music rather than just referencing 2 of the 4 channels names. It would make it look much better.

If you're really interested in those Clubland AKA Channels then the App is a welcome addition I suppose. The way it has it's own EPG is quite innovative. Why you would be interested I'm not sure, as they are just copy and pastes of the channels we already have.

The Vevo app is awful. Slow, clunky, even worse than the Youtube App if that's possible.

Do they have no concept of quality control at VM? Really not acceptable in this day and age.

Not entirely.

MTV covers a broad selection for sure.
as does Kerrang and Smash hits etc.

However, MTV dance is the closest thing to Clubland but it wont show the complete AATW Clubland franchises or some of the more club orientated music genres like trance etc. Whereas MTV dance focuses on mainly modern day house music, with some past dance from the 00's and 90's.

we dont have a chilled station.

now thats what I call music is akin to smash hits a little more broader as sometimes SH, tends to be stuck in pop mode.

can't comment on aka as never watched it.

I would of thought VIRGIN would of removed there music channels off the epg by now and stick clubland on a separate channel now those channels have gone. Also when will universal be available in hd and heard true movies 2 may come

Channel 300 VM Music is too slow and rubbish
and Channel 552 Bike, well what's that all about,
can't VM Media put decent channel's on instead.
And get rid of
Channel's 968 ,981, and 998 Pin Protection Help
and again put decent channel's in their place

If Clubland was going to be added as a channel in its own right it would have been - so I'd say the chance of that happening anytime soon is slim to none.

Maybe when VM and NBC Universal sign a new distribution deal.

Agree. Given Vevo and Clubland et al. both have their own EPG slots I'd guess 300 is primarily there for non-Tivo customers (it provides a different function on those boxes.)

If VM wanted to launch new channels, they have enough capacity to do it tomorrow without the need to remove these channels. 968 and 981 serve the purpose of bookending the adult channels from younger viewers, rather than being there for your viewing pleasure

Virgin Media Ireland are to open several new channels, including a news channel, a sports channel and a children's channel.

I wonder if they will be added to the UK service?

Thanks, although spotted a mistake already (303 VM on Demand Urban) so typical VM.

Good to see every CBS channel available on all packages for 3 months, hope it's a trial and once the demand is proven they keep them there, as VM customers on the lower packages shouldn't be denied basic channels that are available on Freeview/Freesat.

Don't get me started on the continued absence of Universal HD, Spike, TruTV, YourTV...
