so ginx sells out to sky and becomes their new esports channel

next month sky movies becomes sky cinema and the HD channels will be "standard" rather than a premium add on... that is a change to VM...

this ginx change of course is happening as "the only video game show" (as they called themselves) on challenge (a sky owned channel) ceases to be made... (i.e., 'videogame nation' dies because sky has a ginx partnership expansion in mind with epsports)... kind of makes sense and blows the weeping b/s from videogame nation out of the water... sky upgraded from a tiny show to an entire channel)

small beer to the news sky cinema hd will be "no extra charge" to those with sky cinema (movies new name) will VM have to give sky sports HD free to sky sports subscribers free too? because sky sports HD will be the only channels not given free to those with the SD channels in their subscriptions... and thus hardly worth the same sky premium channels surcharge...

how is that a "change" to VM?

next month sky movies becomes sky cinema and the HD channels will be "standard" rather than a premium add on... that is a change to VM...

but are you saying ginx will cease to exist as it is and or ginx epsorts will be carried by VM? because that link doesnt say that does it? this of course is happening as "the only video game show" (as they called themselves) on challenge (a sky owned channel) ceases to be made... (i.e., 'videogame nation' dies because sky has a ginx partnership expansion in mind with epsports)... blar blar blar)

hey, as sky cinema hd will be "no extra charge" to those with sky cinema (movies new name) will VM have to give sky sports HD free to sky sports subscribers free too? because sky sports HD will be the only channels not given free to those with the SD channels in their subscriptions... and thus hardly worth the same sky premium channels surcharge...
HD is already no extra cost to Sky Movies subscribers on sky but Sky Sports subscribers still have to pay extra for HD

VM changes on this thread... VM made all standard Sky channels free but charged extra for sky sports and movies HD... but sy says VM will be no extra charge for sky cinema hd..
http://www.stuff.tv/news/sky-cinema-...ok-better-ever

that is a change... this is a change thread...

so VM will have to match sky with sky sports HD being a premium...
sky used to charge for hd... and they have changed.. will VM again need to "up their game" (it was a VM selling point at Hd was mostly no extra charge unlike sky)

ie what is VM surcharge for sky sports and sky sports movies now?
and will they have to change it so that they still are cheaper than simply sky sports hd is the same price as via sky for sky sports hd? or is that yet another "price increase" for those who paid for sky premium channel hd (sports & movies) in reality

ps... i have been in the pub all afternoon watching football (ive been drinking not watching) and so now turn the oc off

Two new Worldbox apps have appeared on Tivo; Spanish Viva and Portugese Coleta. Selecting either brings up an upgrade message advising to call customer services (I'm on TV XL). So it looks like some new international streaming channels are on their way.

There's also rumoured to be three more (as yet unknown) shopping channels joining in the Autumn.

As John Malone has a stake in QVC, I think that there's a good chance that they will be any missing QVC channels (if there are any).

That's good to see, I had wondered whether Worldbox was being wound down after two channels were taken off and never replaced a couple of months or so ago.

CNN HD has started on Sky. There has recently been some technical changes that are usually done before a Freesat launch.

As CNN tend to be on every platform, I think that there's a very good chance that it will also join VM.

It has been reported that there is an advertisement on the TiVo saying that ABC Studios On Demand has launched.

It goes on to say that TV Shows Such as Castle, Desperate Housewives, Revenge, Cougar Town, Ugly Betty and Devious Maids are now available via On Demand.

Maybe the new channels that we were promised will be VOD services, especially since the new TiVo software blurs the line between VOD and recordings??

I assume you're referring to CNN HD since CNN (SD) has been on for ages as far as I'm aware

About time, it's taken them almost 2 years to sort that one out!

Hope it's a move towards filling the gaps where VM lacks some basic Freeview/Freesat channels, we'll now get Spike etc.

Agreed.

Well, after abruptly removing their services from Freeview and a temporarily removal from the Sky EPG last February, there has been another development regarding Motors TV.

The channel has today been removed from the Sky EPG and, unlike last time this happened, is not broadcasting a signal off the EPG.

In addition, instead of the channel continuing uninterrupted on Virgin Media like last time, a technical fault slate has been put up.

Not looking good.

Unverified information now received that Motors TV was put into receivership five weeks ago by a French court and that it has now gone for good.

I was going to applaud the addition of TruTV. But then I checked the schedule. Oh well. I guess some will appreciate it.

Motors TV has unexpectedly returned to VM EPG number 545.

I'm still not hopeful of this being a long term arrangement as this is a result of the satellite uplink being switched back on and the channel returning to Sky.

In the past, administrators of struggling channels have been known to switch feeds back on to simply keep the SD EPG slot alive as it is a valuable asset that can be sold on.

This is because the SD channel launch queue has been closed for a long time and the only way that new SD channels can launch is by buying an existing EPG slot. If the slot stops broadcasting for a time, Sky remove it from their EPG, it becomes unavailable and simply becomes lost.

A little bird tells me (unofficialy) that Spike will be launching next Thursday.
