According to the link below, Virgin Media Ireland is launching Sky Sports Mix.
http://www.irishtimes.com/business/m...ring-1.2726352

Assuming Virgin Media are doing new channel deals for the UK and Ireland as a whole (such as H2 HD was a Europe-wide deal for Liberty Global) and given there's a lovely gap in the UK EPG at 507, I wonder if Sky Sports Mix might make an appearance this side of the Irish Sea too...?
It will do, both the SD and HD variant of Sky Sports Mix will start on VM on 24/8/16.

The three year deal with BT Sport is up for renegotiation on 15/8/16.

VM in the UK too?
VM UK signed a new deal with BT Sport last year when BT Sport Europe launched, so I'd be surprised if 15/8/16 is still the end date of their agreement.

In other news, BBC Olympics 1-8 and 1-8 HD are broadcasting off the EPG

Yep, in the UK too.

I'm not aware of a new full contract being signed last year, but this could have been made confidential for reasons of commercial sensitivity or something similar.

Thanks for the info. It's good to know that Olympic broadcasts are being sorted out behind the scenes of VM, they are currently doing the same for satellite and Freeview.

The contract was till Aug this year for last package, but both sky and BT have bid and brought the contracts for the next 4 years - was on the news

The first episode of Mr Robot which starts this Thursday on Universal Channel is now available in HD on Virgin Media with the Universal Channel HD DOG.

Could this suggest that Universal Channel HD is finally launching on Virgin Media, in time for this new series?

^I've noticed that Mr. Robot is also being repeated (after being on Universal) on the SciFi Channel - which if memory serves me right does have a HD varient.

There is speculation that Universal HD may fill the old BBC4 HD slot.

There are rumours that Amazon Prime may join VM later this year.

Let's hope so, I know a fair few who want this channel.

What makes it interesting is that it has the Universal HD DOG.

Having said that, Wentworth is now only available on 5STAR (SD), but is available in HD via VOD on VM.

That is so weird. I guess they're owned by the same parent company but it's still odd that they should do this.

Yep. Me for one. And just in time for new "Motive" too. Hard to type with my fingers crossed; but then I can't type that well anyway

I noticed that about Wentworth not sure why they changed it as it is quite a popular program and I checked tonight it's not on demand on sky at all so had to watch the recording in SD.

It is indeed; but only (annoyingly) in the top, XL, pack.

It's the best drama that I know of on TV at the moment- and I thought it wouldn't be for me as I could never get into Prisoner Cell Block H.

Sadly, it's viewing figures are down, so it's been relegated to 5STAR. They are about to shoot the next series and there is concern that Channel 5 won't pick it up.

More info here: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...876029&page=97

There was a concern that PVR's wouldn't pick up the change to another channel, so I pointed out that the TiVo has this facility with the new software- despite spelling Virgin Media incorrectly

Well it had it with the current software too; but only through a Wishlist. I assume these are no-longer needed now?

They're still there with the new software.

I think that Wishlists are still needed because you might not know which channel the programme you want is showing it.

I suppose you could do a search to find out, but it could be the case that no channel is currently showing the programme that you want to record.

If this is the case, a Wishlist would be needed as you'd need an EPG entry to set up a Series Link to get it to check all channels.

That's their VOD service, which they say that their new linear channel will draw some material from.

Thanks. It could be of some interest, assuming we have it on Virgin to replace +24 (which I don't recall ever watching).

We will get it on VM as it is a direct replacement for +24

On 4 July Fox News started testing off the EPG; not sure if this was SD or HD.

There's been speculation that Universal HD will shortly be joining, heightened by the fact that BBC4 HD is shortly to move to the old BBC3 HD slot and HD programming has now been spotted on their VOD offering.
