Agreed. The PQ on the SD channels has never bothered me that much, apart from ITV3 which can look truly dreadful at times but there is no doubt they would all benefit from the HD treatment and native content will only increase with time as more and more shows are recorded in HD.

Also having ITV2-4 in HD adds more value to VMs TV package as in SD they add little to no value really (other than convenience of them being there) as anyone with an aerial can get them for nowt on Freeview but the HD versions will likely not be FTA for some time (if ever).
Fair point, what with no capacity left and capacity we did free up went to 4G....

Freeview HD is rather pointless in lineup.

as you say though itv is for convenience.

Spoken to retentions earlier to get an issue fixed with my BB. She asked is everything else ok and I mentioned the lack of ITV2 HD etc. She then told me that 15 new HD channels will launch next month but it hasn't been confirmed yet. However, she was using digital spy and VM forums as the source of information...but she did say that they have all been told 15 new channels to launch in November.

Channel 5 +1 is launching near the end of the month.
http://mediaboyblog.blogspot.co.uk/2...to-launch.html

I will stick with Channel 5 HD and Demand 5 HD ( which has appeared again after being missing for a week for some reason ) because i am sure the picture quality of Channel 5 +1 will be atrocious.

i wish 5* and 5 USA shows were available in HD on Demand 5 because the picture quality of those channels are atrocious.

Wonder if 15 was a typo for 5+1

BenMcr has confirmed that Channel 5+1 is launching on Thursday.

He also confirmed that customers in Northern Ireland will get their own version of BBC One HD from tomorrow (launches on all platforms).

No mention of the ITV HD channels just yet but as per MEDIABOY they are pencilled in before the end of the month.

I wonder if they will still be able to watch shows recorded from the current version of BBC One HD ? i remember reading what happened when the BBC One region in Brighton & Hove was changed.

But they do have enough bandwidth for 3 ITV HD channels to launch this month ? - the BBC Olympics channels are on hidden channel numbers 650-697 which are not due to be removed until November.

Is that taking up a lot of bandwidth ?

No idea really, I assume they have a set contractual launch date for the ITV channels, it must just be next week instead of this week.

No it isn't.

5* +1 is on channel 152.

Why do you and 2 other people think Channel 5 +1 is on channel 152

Oh 152 is definitely broadcasting - as it has been for a very long time..but as pointed out above, that's 5* +1

I believe it started at 6am.

I wonder why The Africa Channel had a slate put up, even when it became clear that they were not in a position to start broadcasting (it had it's start date delayed), yet Channel 5 +1 only had a slate up for a matter of hours?

Interesting. I guess it's not his fault but maybe MEDIABOY needs to employ some new 'insiders'. Some that don't seemingly just make things up would be a good idea!

I agree he needs new Insiders as the old ones were rubbish, they only told him about The Africa Channel when it was about to launch
and then after a few hours it was all over the Virgin Media Forums anyway and he never informed us about the delay in launching,
also they have not told him about any new HD channels recently that are going to launch
