I get rather confused by enthusiasm for channels such as Universal. Having looked at their schedule it seems to primarily consist of endless repeats of three programmes: CSI, NCIS and Law & Order.

How many times do people need to watch this tedious, formulaic junk?
Bates Motel and Chicago Med are both on Universal, I watch them.

Universal does have a lot of procedurals, which form a solid base for the channel and guarantee reliable ratings due to their popularity, but I think many people are pleased to see it now available in HD due to the really stand out character driven shows that they have, such as critically-acclaimed Mr Robot, Bates Motel, How to Get Away with Murder and Sleepy Hollow.

If you are in doubt about the 'formulaic' try reading this:

https://screencraft.org/2016/01/05/t...ision-scripts/

The same stories are simply endlessly retold.
Universal is a mainstream channel. Nonetheless, within that, it screens interesting shows such as Bates Motel and Mr Robot. There's nothing inherently wrong with working within conventions - even Shakespeare did it!

1. it's not a repeat if you haven't seen it before.
2. you might like the show enough to watch it again without having to buy the boxset.
3. there are new shows (and some exclusive) on the channel.

How many times do people need to watch this tedious, formulaic junk?
We get it. You don't like these shows but the NCIS and CSI franchises are two of the most-watched shows in the world.

Personally I'm more than happy to watch something in SD if that is the only way I can legally watch it. I was just unhappy with the crap quality of the SD on Universal.

It was lost on me, I'm afraid!

That link seems to relate specifically to VM Ireland and not the UK too, While current trends seem to be for collective rights agreements covering various LG countries, I'm hesitant to make assumptions when Sky are involved with VM!

Liberty Global and Discovery Communicatons have signed a new Europe-wide distribution deal, so we should soon see the missing Discovery channels added to TV Anywhere as well.

http://www.broadbandtvnews.com/2016/...carriage-deal/
Wonder if this means that we'll get the 4K channel?

Incidently, BT are to rename their UHD sport channel to 4K.

The following channels now have placeholders off the EPG:

Sky Sports Mix
Sky Sports Mix HD
Spike
5 Star+1
Pop
Movie Mix
Movies 4 Men

Only Movies 4 Men currently a video stream.
There is also a duplicate MTV Live HD (no video stream)

I thought MovieMix didn't exist anymore after More>Movies closed?

It seems very odd that VM appear to be gearing up to add Fox News, but not YourTV

Re: The duplicate MTV Live HD.

Perhaps this is a test for MTV Classics or a new HD version of an existing SD channel (exclusive?). What other Viacom channels are we missing?

All very quiet it seems.

All odd - why Pop, Movies 4 Men and Movie Mix, but no Pop Girl, Chart Show etc.
Why Spike and 5 Star+1 but no MTV Classic or Nick Jr HD.

At least channels are being added though, and while they may not be everyone's cup of tea, VM seem to be taking their TV offering seriously at the moment.

They closed Pop Girl last year I think it was. I think they replaced it with Kix +1. Not so good for teenagers but some programs are shown on The Vault and Chart Show TV now instead.

Apparently, MTV Live HD switched transport streams, so there is a "Channel moved" entry for the old location and another entry for the new one.

Movies4Men is the only service currently testing with a video stream, the rest are SDT entries/placeholders on the NIT.

The Viacom channels that we are currently missing are:

Spike and 5STAR +1 (both already have placeholders)

Comedy Central Extra +1

MTV +1

MTV Classic

Nick Junior +1

Nick Junior HD

not to fussed about +1's

but the last MTV is Classic.
Sky had a red button thing called MTV Trax dunno if thats still going over in skyland.

Andyland is spot on, seems they are gearing up for something.

I have a feeling the 4k box might actually be just a modified existing box with a 4k tuner in it. Probably offered in a bigger storage as well.

AIUI there will be different choices, each will be of a different design to the current TiVo and be "about the size of a largish paperback book".

Apparently, Hayu TV will be free for a month in December 2016 for all VM customers.

This channel is normally only available at no extra cost to XL customers, or at a cost of £3.99 a month.

NDTV India and NDTV Spice are said to now be testing video and audio off the EPG, as well as a placeholder appearing for Sky Sports Mix HD.

The launch date of Sky Sports Mix is the 24th Aug at 12pm. It will show live European Golf, EFL and Cricket in the first week:

This is the schedule for the first 3 days:

The live sport on Sky Sports Mix during those 3 days is as follows:

Wed 24 Aug:
1.30pm - Live ODI cricket: England v Pakistan

Thur 25 Aug:
10.30am - Live European Tour golf: Made in Denmark (1st session)
2.30pm - Live European Tour golf: Made in Denmark (2nd session)

Fri 26 Aug:
10.30am - Live European Tour golf: Made in Denmark (1st session)
2.30pm - Live European Tour golf: Made in Denmark (2nd session)
7.00pm - Live EFL: Burton v Derby

The channel runs for 24 hours per day so there is also a whole host of highlights and filler programming - including ODI highlights and EFL Cup highlights.

The following week. Live sport is as follows:

Sat 27 Aug:
8am – Live Rugby Union – New Zealand v Australia
12pm – Live F1 – Belgium GP Qualifying
7.15pm – Live La Liga – Real Madrid v Celta Vigo
12.30am – Live MLS – Toronto v Montreal

Sun 28 Aug:
11.30am – Live F1 – Belgium GP Race

Thur 1 Sept:
7.30pm – Live Super league – Wigan v Widnes

No live sport on Mon 29 Aug, Tue 30 Aug, Wed 31 Aug or Fri 2 Sep.

During the 7 days from 27/08/16 to 02/09/16 in addition to the live sport posted above there will be:

- European Tour golf highlights
- F1 Show
- EFL Goals
- Goals on Sunday
- South Africa v New Zealand Test cricket highlights
- England v Pakistan ODI cricket highlights
- Netball Superleague Grand Final replay (ie not live)

However no PL Game of the Day, Match Choice or PL highlights programmes (other than what is shown within Goals on Sunday).

The first 10 days so far suggests that there is going to be a lot of variation - so we just don't know what will be on in subsequent weeks.

Looking at the first 5 days (ie Wed 24 Aug to Sun 28 Aug) it's possible they have started very strongly to make an impact and that the amount of live sport will then start to reduce, but we'll have to wait and see.

They would be, as Sky Sports Mix only simulcasts live coverage from the main Sky Sports channels for the benefit of those that don't subscribe to them.

Information received to say that up to another five channels will be launching.

Not sure if this one is included in this figure or not:

The duplicate of MTV Live HD that was showing "Channel Moved" has started to broadcast again as of today.

The channel is encrypted and the now/next info on the EPG says "V Festival 2016 is Coming".

http://www.musicweek.com/live/read/c...estival/064991

Apparently, channel 81 has appeared in TV Anywhere and says MTV LiveHD, but the schedule for tomorrow reads as follows:

02:00 Previews
06:00 Hot Right Now!
09:00 V Festival - 2016 is Coming
11:00 21 Years of V Festival - 1996
11:30 21 Years of V Festival - 1997
12:00 21 Years of V Festival - 1998
12:30 21 Years of V Festival - 1999

13:30 V Festival 2014 - John Newman
14:00 V Festival 2014 - Rizzle Kicks Live
14:30 V Festival 2014 - Aloe Blacc Live
15:00 V Festival 2014 - Kaiser Chiefs
15:30 V Festival 2014 - Bastille Live
16:00 V Festival 2014 - Chic Live
16:30 V Festival 2014 - Elbow Live
