Information received to say that up to another five channels will be launching.

Not sure if this one is included in this figure or not:

The duplicate of MTV Live HD that was showing "Channel Moved" has started to broadcast again as of today.

The channel is encrypted and the now/next info on the EPG says "V Festival 2016 is Coming".

http://www.musicweek.com/live/read/c...estival/064991

Apparently, channel 81 has appeared in TV Anywhere and says MTV LiveHD, but the schedule for tomorrow reads as follows:

02:00 Previews
06:00 Hot Right Now!
09:00 V Festival - 2016 is Coming
11:00 21 Years of V Festival - 1996
11:30 21 Years of V Festival - 1997
12:00 21 Years of V Festival - 1998
12:30 21 Years of V Festival - 1999
13:00 V Festival 2014 - Pixie Lott
13:30 V Festival 2014 - John Newman
14:00 V Festival 2014 - Rizzle Kicks Live
14:30 V Festival 2014 - Aloe Blacc Live
15:00 V Festival 2014 - Kaiser Chiefs
15:30 V Festival 2014 - Bastille Live
16:00 V Festival 2014 - Chic Live
16:30 V Festival 2014 - Elbow Live
17:00 V Festival - 2016 is Coming
19:00 21 Years of V Festival - 2000
19:30 21 Years of V Festival - 2001
20:00 21 Years of V Festival - 2002
20:30 21 Years of V Festival - 2003
21:00 V Festival 2014 - Sam Smith Live
21:30 V Festival 2014 - Ed Sheeran Live
22:00 V Festival 2014 - Rudimental Live
22:30 V Festival - Live: Tinie Tempah
23:00 V Festival 2014 - Best of the Weekend
That's definitely MTV Live's schedule for tomorrow.
Interesting it's appeared on TV Anywhere, given the MTV channels aren't available to stream on the platform.

Interesting, not sure what's going on then!

I had assumed that the EPG listings were reflecting a pop up V Festival channel.

If it is a pop up channel that will broadcast from the festival, I guess there'd only be a need for unique programmes on Saturday and Sunday.

There is no such channel as 81 on TV Anywhere, VM's channels start on 100 and on TV Anywhere they start with BBC One on 101. As others have said that is just the schedule for MTV Live HD which is on 311, but can't be viewed on TV Anywhere

They would be, as Sky Sports Mix only simulcasts live coverage from the main Sky Sports channels for the benefit of those that don't subscribe to them.
so who should be able to subscribe to Sky Sports Mix?

You won't need to 'subscribe' to Sky Sports Mix, it will just be included in the standard TV packages. VM haven't confirmed which, but probably M+ and up like Sky Sports News is.

Ref V Festival / MTV Live HD

All that's happened is MTV Live HD is also now available on 100 for the benefit of all VM TV viewers, whereas MTV Live HD on 311 remains XL only.

It is not available on TV Anywhere.

I'm hoping Spike launches really soon as I'm really into Wynonna Earp and I've had to watch it on Freeview or My5 (online, not the station) for weeks which is a pain in the neck.

It seems very odd that VM appear to be gearing up to add Fox News, but not YourTV

Re: The duplicate MTV Live HD.

Perhaps this is a test for MTV Classics or a new HD version of an existing SD channel (exclusive?). What other Viacom channels are we missing?
What channel number is Spike going to be?

Many thanks for clarifying the correct position. I've asked the person about the channel 81 thing and not received a response yet

AFAIK this isn't yet known.

That's Solent (Local TV channel) is said to be testing off the EPG in the relevant areas.

Rumour that TruTV+1 may be joining VM.

No probs, happy to bring some clarity to the matter.

It does surprise me that VM don't make a bigger deal about things like MTV Live HD now being exclusive to them, and going to the effort of making it available to all viewers for the V Festival weekend. At least it's got an article at http://virginmediapresents.com/#tv/v-festival_issue34 but you would think that they would be shouting from the rooftops about anything they have that Sky don't!

It seems somewhat archaic that VM need a duplicate brodcast stream to make this happen.

I agree. For a communications company, VM have always been notoriously bad at communication; I guess it's why threads like this exist!

Absolutely, don't know why they didn't just downgrade channel 311 for the weekend

It's great to see Virgin making the most of their links to V Festival and the exclusive carriage of MTV Live in the UK, to offer something Sky can't... but isn't putting a real channel on 100 against Ofcom's PSB prominence rules, which say BBC One/Two/ITV/C4/C5 must take the top spots?

I recall Ofcom's rules on this are pretty vague - to the extent they only stipulate 'appropriate prominence'. Arguably the presence of the traditional 1-5 channels on the first page of the EPG satisfies this.

As another example, on Sky I think CBBC and Cbeebies are further down the kids' section, rather than the top two slots.

It just has a better EPG position so that people are more likely to stumble across it than 311, it's also a more memorable number for people to recall from adverts. So it's a commercial decision not a technological one.

Totally get that, and its great they are using channel 100 for something useful.
My point is that VM are broadcasting two identical MTV Live HD channels across their network in order to make this happen. They don't seem to have the ability to use the same stream twice.

NTL used to regularly do this with The Guest Channel.

I remember I think it was Virgin or Telewest put the sky movies free view channel years ago on channel 399 instead of unencrypting one of the channels.

It's just for the weekend because of V Festival, it gives their exclusive coverage some exposure to people that wouldn't usually venture down to the Music section, that's all.
