Could people be downgrading their TV package and Virgin is just reminding those what they are missing.
Working the other way a teaser channel to upgrade to the relevant TV pack??

Remember the £3.49 increase due in November which may have some relevance here.
You could well be right, there are said to be lots of customers downgrading or cancelling altogether following this latest price rise.

Could we be seeing the PSB catch up services be given due prominence in the same way as their linear channels?

Virgin Media need to find a careful balance with free channel viewing - customers pay a premium for these in the top package, and this needs to remain exclusive and not watered down.

I suppose they believe that they will pick up more upgrades by giving a taster of what's available than they will lose by people downgrading because some content is temporarily available on the minimum pack.

Yes, it's that fine balance they need to find if on a regular, continual basis as the minimum and maximum package is far removed in cost.

That's an example of a good balance. The film has already been shown several times on TCM.

Thanks for sharing the new channel guide - its layout is much improved and seems pretty comprehensive (omitting just some of the regional variations in the 850s and 870s e.g. some channels available in Northern Ireland only and some of the regional BBC and ITV channels that are available in selected regions only).

I may have missed something but I think it is showing a number of changes to the line up and one new channel and some changes of package (ignoring the current temporary changes of package)

170 Investigation Discovery (M+) (was 253)
171 Investigation Discovery +1 (Mix) was 254)
189 True Entertainment now M+ package (was Mix)
213 DMAX (Mix) (was 170)
214 DMAX+1 (Mix) (was 171)
330 Box Upfront (was 338)
336 Box Hits (was 337)
337 4Music (was 330)
338 Kiss (was 336)
420 Movies 24 + was M+ package now Fun TV package
424 True Movies/Christmas was Fun TV package, now M+
830 Disney UTV - new channel

Of course these may be errors in Virgin's guide (or errors in the list I was checking against). Can anyone confirm whether these are changes and whether they have taken effect, please? I may not have picked up them all so worth checking to see if there are other changes.

I'm surprised that Disney UTV is launching, it wasn't that long ago (September??) that Disney said that they were pulling out of this movie channel due to losses

...so people lose access to a pay channel with Movies 24 & gain two of the True branded channels available elsewhere for free.

I have an inkling that this is an error in the Channel Guide and that it's actually Rishtey Cineplex that's launching.

Apparently, the channel previously known as UMP Movies didn't use the UTV name here as it was already taken by the Channel 3 franchise operator.

UMP Movies doesn't appear to be on VM after a quick look, but channel 830 is currently vacant.

Perhaps the new channel has been assigned the wrong name in error??

Edit: UMP Movies closed down at the end of last September in the UK and was replaced by Rishtey Cineplex, maybe it's that that's coming as it's already launched on Sky. This article from 29/9/16 says that "it may launch on VM in the future":

MB has noticed that the channel 100 freeview idea appears to have been scrapped.

TCM was due to appear tomorrow, but it's now showing previews continuously.

I wish they'd follow things through after having an original idea.

Maybe the owner of Virgin Movies complained that their PPV offerings weren't receiving any exposure??

MB has today stated that a Virgin Media UK source has confirmed that the Amazon app will launch and that a channel will appear on Channel 205 from November 10th (info may change).

Apparently, Wuaki is also on it's way to the TiVo "soon".

Investigation Discovery move due to take place on 29th:

"The UK’s biggest real-life crime channel gets even bigger with a move into the entertainment EPG with Virgin Media on Tuesday 29 November – channel 170 for ID and 171 for ID+1"

http://www.woodcutmedia.com/investig...e-commissions/

Can't say I'm a fan of this, as the once relatively logical VM EPG is compromised yet again.

I presume Discovery argued that other channels in the Entertainment section are showing the same type of 'real-life crime' content (the likes of Really and TruTV) to justify it and probably only a matter of time until A+E Networks ask that Crime & Investigation is moved too.

Clubland TV is now on the EPG.

One still has to press the red button for:

Now Music

Channel AKA

Chilled

Perhaps this could be a sign that the other three will get their own channel numbers on the EPG?

This change means that the channel is quicker to access, can be recorded and gives access to customers with the V+ box for the first time.

Clubland TV can be found on EPG number 345.

Yes it's a good start, shame they haven't added the other 3 to the EPG at the same time and they are still tucked away in the app. VM are so stingy with their bandwidth.

It's a rebrand of Big Centre TV, which was already on VM.

Cheers Andy.

Apparently, Fox News is now testing video and audio off the EPG.

It has been suggested that it was kept off VM until after the presidential election in order to give Sky an advantage.

So maybe it launches in a day or two?

I know that Amazon too was said to launch on the 10th november. so it is now past midnight, so lets see if it gets added in the next few hours, usually channels and apps get added in the early hours between 1am and 4am.
