T-Mobile upgrades question
Is it still the case that T-Mobile will only upgrade someone who wants an iPhone to the plans on the website and they don't do offers for loyal customers like they do with other handsets?

My contract is up in December I have the iPhone 4 and I want to sell it and get the new iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S III either by buying outright or a contract with a lower term and paying something for the phone. I only really need about 300 mins, 300-500 texts and 500MB-1GB internet. I currently pay around £37 a month for 1200mins, unlimited texts and 1GB Internet but I rarely use anywhere near the allowance I get.
I know I can get the Samsung Galaxy SIII on a 12 month contract from dialaphone for £188 up front plus £36 a month for 300mins, unlimited texts and 500MB Internet which seems ok but I think I should wait until the new iPhone comes out as prices may come down or I may want that instead but don't want to wait until December unless it's worth my while staying with T-Mobile |

If you're willing to pay some money up front, that will help you swing a deal for the SIII, but you won't be able to negotiate a deal until your upgrade day in November. |

If your contract finishes in December, you can normally get a full upgrade one month before. If you leave before then, you'll get charged the remainder of your contract, which wouldn't make economic sense!

Thanks there is one deal but with Vodafone through dialaphone I'm not fussy about staying loyal to any network so I may see what every network is offering. The only thing with the galaxy s III is that I'll lose my iTunes sync options which I use a lot so may have to buy a separate iPod. I'll weight up the options when the new iPhone launches first before making any decisions. It doesn't help with apple being so secretive about pricing etc.
It's an app by samsung that literally syncs everything from your iphone/itunes to your s3. It's really great and solves every problem with itunes and android. |

Does it keep your play counts etc?
The software i posted about in my last post is newer and by samsung themselves. Never actually used it myself but i know people that have and it worked with them. Not sure about play count sorry. Maybe someone else would know. But yeh, T-Mobile don't do amazing retention deals on the iPhone. But to be honest I'd wait till about November before taking the upgrade as that is when you'll get your best deal. |

There's no such thing as loyalty! All they care about is how much you spend a month. When I was there Top Customers are called T1 and get what they want but you have to spend hundreds and hundreds of pounds a month for that. The retention department can offer a bit more than the first person you speak to, so the best tactic is to say you're cancelling and see what they offer.

Thats true. Ive been paying 22 quid a month for 2 year my contract is up this week and all they offered me was a htc desire c. If it would of been a htc one s I might of stayed.
Plus I always paid on time too. |

If I offer to cancel early and pay it off will they offer anything or is it only if you wait it out? I spend over £100 a month with them but I have 4 lines on my account which other people use and never missed a payment since I set up the account in about 2009. |

I actually phoned up to find out when I could cancel last week and they said to wait until November and that I wouldn't want to leave as they are launching 4G.

Yeah, what others are saying. The best deals happen within your last month. People who spend a fortune every month can upgrade three months before their contract is up, but I'd even advise those people to wait until the last month as it wouldn't be as good an offer as they'd get in their final month.

Retentions teams aren't idiots, they know that a lot of people they speak to are just trying to play the system, so you don't even necessarily have to pretend you're leaving. |
