Better tariff than this/cheapest way to get unlimited data inc. tethering?
So my upgrade is due fairly soon (a month or so away but I like to take my time and weigh up my options) and while I think I'll struggle to get a tariff better-suited to my needs than the one I'm on, I'd still like to be sure.
Currently I'm with T-Mobile and my tariff gives me 100 minutes, unlimited texts and 3GB of data each month including tethering - all for £10.58. My usage/needs are as follows:

Very few minutes, probably averaging low double-figures but with odd months that are a fair bit higher - 50 would be pushing it, 75-100 would be more comfortable.
Fair number of texts, talking anywhere from about 25 to 100 a week - 500 would be the minimum I'd consider.
Quite a lot of data, I use more than half of my 3GB a month and most of that is tethering and my usage is slowly increasing - lets say 3GB as a minimum, unlimited would be of interest, tethering is a must.
My current tariff, it should be noted, is a 24-month plan that includes a handset and given the way T-Mobile's upgrades system works it allows for some pretty good deals (last time I paid £30 up-front for a handset that was selling for £300 on the high street). So whilst I'm not averse to the idea of switching to SIM-only, it would have to be a good deal to make up for the loss of a subsidy on a handset every 24 months. Obviously, the launch of LTE in the UK and which tariffs will support it along with any potential changes to tariffs from competing networks would all have considered as well but I figured I'd start now and get an idea for what's currently on the market and then look at any developments or changes to the market as they occur. Any help or advice (other than people just saying 'GiffGaff') would be greatly appreciated. |

If you go 3 way you would pay 25 pounds, since that the only one which allows tethering. on vodafone you will pay roughly the same but will only get 2.5gb on o2 not sure what the prices are but they are most expensive. So in my opinion don't change anything, find out if you can add more data to your tariff. |

Stay put,
Three offer unlimited data (with unlimited tethering from £25) (With 1GB tethering from £17.90) T-Mobile don't offer any data over 1.5GB with tethering. (min £20pm) Vodafone don't offer more than 2GB with tethering. (min £25/£41) O2 don't offer more than 2GB with tethering. (min £25/30) For £10 you are getting 3GB of data and tethering which is great. If you don't need tethering then there are some better deals. But because you need the tethering then stay on your current plan. If you're desperate for more data Perhaps ask Orange for a mobile dongle and see if they'll offer you any discounts over the standard price. Or look on amazon for three's broadband sims where you can buy 3GB of data for 3 months for £12. Alternatively you can look at ovivo mobile and a dual sim handset. Or use an app such as onavo which compresses mobile data. |

Thank you both.
I suspected that was probably the case but as I say best to be sure. I'm a fair way off needing more data, I think my average data usage is somewhere around the 1.5-2GB mark, so quite a bit of leeway. It's probably about 2-3 times more than I was using when the contract started but that's mostly down to the fact I got a tablet, so I can't see my usage leaping like that again - even if I got a new tablet it would replace my current one, so it would balance out. Now, if I can only get LTE added to my tariff without paying through the nose, I'll be set
