I've no problem with enforcing patents. So yes, I will still be buying the iPhone 5.

Are you a regular reader of the Daily Mail?

I ask because

a. This only applies in the US
b. The devices in question are no longer on sale in the US anyway
c. It's not like they're going to take back phones that have already been sold.

Please don't link to that scaremongering piece of bigoted trash and pretend it's news!

It only affects the yanks. Thankfully our judges have a little more sense and binned the cases.

They wont be removed from sale here. Apple are beginning to look a bit silly now.

How strange and very pro apple

How can you say you will still buy it when no one know what it looks like and what it adds to the old one?

Bit silly isnt it?

No it's not a bit silly. The iPhone has always worked for me. I also own an android and I find that too complex for a phone. I want to be able to pick up a phone and know how to use it from the off, without having to read a manual. I also have an iPhone and iPad for work and the ability to share my apps and data between all my devices is very important to me.

So it doesn't really matter what they add to the phone, the functionality I need is already there.

Of course it is! Its actually borderline idiocy! Your buying it because its made by Apple!

I laugh at people when they say, mainly apple users in fact, that Android is complex when my 80+ year old nana picked up her Android phone and was using it proficiently after a few hours

Why. It's important that my devices are compatible with each other. That rules out any phone other than the iPhone. Suggesting that someone ignores a need like that would be idiocy.

Serves the yanks right for the stupid decision which has already been thrown out in the UK,Germany and Holland. As for the iphone 5 the specs aint looking to good on the rumour mill still only dual core,no NFC,tiny battery increase and only a stretched 4" screen. But will wait to see what they come up with before getting an S3.

Ok, I'm gonna buy the next BMW that comes out. I don't know what it looks like but I'm just gonna buy it because its a BMW.

That's stupidity!

i moved from an iphone and it didn't put me up nor down. Nor did it stop me syncing things to other devices...

Anyway, each to their own!!

I'm buying iphone because it suits my needs. I was offered an apple laptop with work but I turned it down because it didn't suit my needs. Android does not offer the applications that I need for my job (they are quite obscure apps and not released on android). just because an iPhone may not suit you, it is the only phone on the market that suits me. So less of the arrogance thank you.

But you are happy to agree when someone says they won't by one because it is made by Apple...seems borderline idiocy works both ways!

I can understand it and I am not the biggest Apple fan. The fact is Apple do make very good products and the poster clearly needs certain features that are not provided by Android (yet!).

Apple products are of excellent quality (I have an iPod and have had no issues with it). Honestly, the only problem I have with them is their business practices of taking out ridiculously vague patents and then suing everyone who dares make a similar product. They seem to have an irrational fear of competing in a free market.

Perhaps I should tell all my clients to cancel their multimillion pound contracts with IBM just so I can get an android phone

You went on about the mythical functionality. Now you digress onto something completely different.

Nope. IBM provide software on iPhone and iPad to connect to their systems. My clients use that software and it is not available on Android. It's not rocket science.

Terminal software by the sound of it.

edit Am surprised IBM do not do Android yet but of course the iPad was first. The iPhone is a surprise
What do they call the software ?

Before paying attention to Stiggles go through his posting history. He isn't just a fan of googles Android OS he is frigging fanatic.

You'll also see a fair bit of foul an abusive language, so you'll get the mentality behind his posts.

IBM provide a lot of software for mobile devices. Lotus, Connections etc. but the one I need is Cognos Mobile.

The thing that many people ignore when purchasing a phone is what applications are available, where for me and many others the applications dictate what phone is best (or even the only phone).
