Ok, so you need to own that computer and have it turned on to print.

Someone could just a Windows 8 tablet as their full time computer and not need other devices (peripherals like external monitor and keyboard welcome though).

That's a lot of faffing about.

I'll stick to my laptop for now and look at Windows tablets in the future.

I read that most printers manufactured after Oct. 2011 have the AirPrint facility.
So, OK to print from an iPad.

...If you want to buy a new printer. The ones I already have work fine and will last years more being lasers.

Plus you can plug things in via USB to a windows tablet, insert SD cards, use Metro snap to see two apps simultaneously etc etc.

All of this "my tablet is better than your tablet" is getting tiresome. Each person has their own requirements that make their tablet (or phone) best for them. Why do so many people feel the need to put owners of other tablets down?

People seem to have a notion that what they have is perfect for everyone and some people seem intent on telling people how what they have must not be as good as it’s not what they have – I think it must be some kind of ‘power’ thing they have – and I agree it is very tiresome reading in every thread.
