What do you think? Will we ever see it?

With the Unity interface, it is obvious that Canonical are looking to get into the tablet market and they have made noises about wanting to get into the mobile phone market as well.

Being a fan of Linux (especially Ubuntu) and open source software in general I would love to see an Ubuntu phone. More choice is a good thing

As many mobile OS's as possible is what I want, I don't want to have to avoid certain handsets due to their OS. It should be like internet browsers. Lots of different ones all able to run on the same hardware. I know its not that simple but kinda gets my point across.

I couldn't agree more. I would like to see a future where, like buying a computer, you can buy a phone and install whatever OS you want on it. That freedom is what technology should be all about.

I'd stick Linus in as CEO in charge of everything for mobile Linux

Whatever he says goes with me.
We already have Linux as Android and I do not have that much faith for Canonical to reign in Linux's bloat.

Can Canonical Linux beat Android Linux?
Sharing tools could certainly make for more open web.

My Motorola Atrix 2 (and original) has a hdmi out port which when docked or connected to a tv/monitor boots up a full linux interface which is pretty awesome. It's a bit slow but is very good. in the OS you can do usual desktop things as well as make calls/texts and use the phone from the desktop. You also get phone notifications on the desktop itself and can run all phone apps on the desktop OS. I'd like it to be a bit more integrated but i think it's really great.

This is how it should be, desktop with full integration with mobile. I also love motocast and Motoportal which allow you to wirelessly stream all data from pc to phone and vice versa.

If ubuntu can integrate their OS like Motorola have done here both on desktop and mobile, make it a bit smoother and polish it up then it'll be a killer OS. Much better than what microsoft are doing with Windows 8.
