I can't believe people think there is no chemistry between Denise and Ian. My sister i both felt the sizzle and was sure there's something going on. Came online to check out the gossip and noticed that comment. Amazing, people's perception eh!

Tonights show was fab, they were all winners

And I know he wasn't the best, but hasn't Julian improved so much? And he and Erin have such an adorable friendship

I thought Denise & Ian's Quickstep was fab tonight. I also though Jill and Darren's foxtrot was beautiful. I loved Julian and Erin's Quickstep.
Denise's Samba was awful. What can you say about Jill and Darren's Jive - perfection.. Julian and Erin's Samba looked a little nervy to me but I enjoyed it.
IMHO Erin (as has already been said) shines out as the most amazing professional; she hasn't just taught Julian well, she has performed WITH him as a couple and not made herself shine out.. she has worked to his level. Denise's Ballroom is definitely better than her Latin. Jill & Darren just shine out over all.
I was in tears watching Julian and Erin performing their showdance.. I actually missed part of Denise & Ian's showdance due to being bored (though I did think the choreography was clever - the combination of the different dances). Jill and Darren just blew me away. Will be curious to watch them against Brendan and Natasha in the Christmas Special (who I think just have that chemistry that Jill and Darren don't have). I think it is magic that Natasha is such a natural as she isn't from a dance/performing background at all. Jill obviously is... up until these last 2 weeks that had been stopping me voting for her... but when she has got to the high standard she has the last 2 weeks in the Ballroom discipline that got me voting. She has gone past the point of just managing well because she already had dance training.. she is now a Ballroom/Latin dancer too.
WHAT AN AMAZING SHOW!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT;S OVER! *SOB*

It's a bit of a shame that this late on the audience vote is weighted too heavily (with the way the maths works, the winner of the audience vote is guaranteed to win unless they came third with the judges), making the judges votes irrelevant.

Having said that, I'm a Jill and Darren man, so I'm happy.

And as for all the people complaining that it's a dance competition, not a popularity one - well, why have an audience vote at all if all that matters is the dancing?

Dance is to some extent opinionated when you are judging. If there was no public vote it would be the opinion of 4 people (some of whom we'd be questionning the validity of their comments). Dance is about affecting people too... not just on the techincality of it but on the emotion.. in fact the emotion is perhaps the number one... when bad technique gets in the way of the performance then it is a problem.
It does add a huge element of anxiety and surprise to the show by having a public vote and that is a lot of its appeal though I will admitt last series I was panicking in case Chris Parker won over Natasha. I am glad so far in both cases the best dancer has won. I think it was also nice that Denise was the other competitor in the final two (much as I am not a fan, she was the better of the other contestants). I do wish it could have been a 4 couple final with Aled and Lilia too.

I think it's interesting to see how the final vote has gone these past two series.

Series one was between Natasha and Chris Parker. The better dancer triumphed at the end of the day, because the public phoned in for the better dancer on the night.

Most people expected Denise and Ian to come third in series two, but managed to come second. Why? The best two dancers were in the final together - the public obviously must've ranked Julian third. That would suggest that, once more, the public voted for the dance talent rather than the personality when it came to the final.

I think it's an interesting trend - that the public seem to vote for those with the dance talent at the end of the contest. I also think it's a good trend - I'm all for keeping the entertaining ones around until the end, but when it actually comes to the crunch, it's nice to see it settled on dancing ability!

Unfortunately, due to a prior commitment and a misbehaving VCR, we missed the second session on Saturday.
Maybe one of our friends has taped it - here's hoping...

I really enjoyed Jill & Darren and have been a great fan of Julian & Erin since discovering the series about half way through. Erin is really sweet (I think I might be in love!).

I think the judges that say it's a dance competition are only half right. It's a *celebrity* dance competition. If it were just about dancing, we would have something more like the old 'Come Dancing' (and a much smaller audience). Hence the voting public's input is valid - I guess you can argue about weighting but that's probably not going to be productive.

I, too, am looking forward to the 22nd and will stand over the video, if neccessary!
