When faced with something vile, scary, disgusting, (No Janet jokes here)....contorting your face, and shouting out can help you deal with fear.
We all do it.
If someone offered you a cup of sick to drink, your face would naturally contort.
When someone has to physically exert themselves, they naturally make noises and exaggerate facial expressions.
If somebody put a tarantula on your head, you would wince and squirm, make eeeurgh noises and "naturally" overdramatise your feelings.
When under certain stress, most of us physically do things to help ourselves.
We probably don't need to, but we feel it helps.
I think it's in our genetic makeup to act this way.
When suddenly faced with something disgusting, we subconciously associate with germs and contort out face.
Anything dead, we often do the same.
These are coping mechanisms that we all do.
His pulling faces, making noises, kicking his leg, or your arse involuntarily scrunching up would be something that would have helped him.
It depends on who it is, and what sort of things they find unpleasant.
I can't see many people being cool calm and collected about the situation he was in.
I was squirming slightly just watching, And my own face was probably contorting when I saw the nasties in the holes.
Yes, he was overexaggerating. That would be a natural coping mechanism to help him get through it.
He spoke so much absolute bollox at times I doubt he would have even been thinking that much about what he actually said.
I think he let himself overexaggerate. And I don't think that was a crime if it was to help him get through the trial.
He comes out with so much off the cuff, emotional type spontaneous stuff in conversation in the camp that can make him look foolish at times, so I can honestly believe that his emotions were pretty real in that task.
He really didn't look like he enjoyed what he had to do, so I doubt he would have felt calculated enough at that time to ham it up deliberately.
