Aside from buying DVDs and ripping them, no. Unlike music on iTunes which doesn't have DRM, the TV shows are all DRM'd so unless you can buy them and find a way to remove that, DVDs are probably your best answer.

I think TV shows are starting to appear in the Google Play store in the US, so surely the UK must follow soon.

Thanks for your reply I thought as much. At present I'm ripping DVDs, hopefully google play in the UK will catch up soon.

I think lovefilms and netflix both have android apps

Aside from those I am sure that Google play will have TV shows at some point in the future, it already does in the states.

yep Google Play has TV shows but US-only right now. (likewise Amazon)

try http://www.findanyfilm.com/ for a particular show, though its more for films.

there's also blinkbox.com, who I believe managed to blag exclusivity for Game of Thrones digital purchases, at least for a little while....
(edit:hmm...looks like they don't yet support Android. http://www.blinkbox.com/Devices )

AFAIK they're the main itunes alternative for TV purchases in the UK....if there are others I'd love to know about them!

Some DVD's now provide a free digital download which I assume would play on an Android device.

What about streaming video from itunes to an Android device? Or using a desktop managment app on an Android tablet?

I know music can be streamed but don't know if video can.

The iTunes store certainly has it sewn up here in the UK. Blinkbox is annoying as they only do ipad and their PC version is Flash which is no use to me on Jelly bean. Older android tabs may work with it?

well Flash and jelly bean will mix OK with a bit of effort. I had presumed though that the Blinkbox solution wasn't just playing in a browser, and needed a software download for the rights management bit.

ok just checked. with flash player, and Firefox the Nexus 7 will play free stuff on blinkbox. The site does a device check and displays as "unavailable on your device" unless you select "request desktop version" in Firefox.

But it plays the free stuff at least. Thundercats! HO!
