lil lexie

listened to it for the first time in years today and thought it still held up really well, better than Seventh Tree.
forgotten how great Ooh La La, Lovely 2 C U, Ride A White Horse and Koko were.

any views on this album?

I loved Supernature when it first came out. There's some good songs on there but for some reason I don't listen to it much now. I may pop it on later You Never Know is my favourite off that album.

I've always prefered Black Cherry... I absolutely love that album. Forever, Black Cherry and Crystalline Green are fantastic songs.

Goldfrapp have such a varied back catalogue:-
Felt Mountain is so beautifully weird,
Seventh Tree - I love Eat Yourself and Monster Love but there's some songs I just never took to,
Head First - I didn't like it at first but it really grew on me; there's some crackers on there

Supernature was their commercial peak and rightly so it melded the electro clash vibes and added a dash of pop making a sparkly accessible album for all.

But personally Black Cherry does it for me more its unrefined and sexy and just so good but as another posted said goldfrapp have such a great back catalogue.

Felt Mountain- Like a sound score for a bond film just stunning.
Seventh Tree- A Folky trip to a field somewhere with some great standouts.
Head First- An album steeped firmly in the 80's a great and underrated album.

As much as I love Supernature, I prefer Seventh Tree. A&E sounds like it belongs over the closing credits of a brilliant film.

My first thoughts on Supernature were that some of the tracks felt "under produced" or unfinished.

I actually saw Goldfrapp live at Brixton the week the album came out, the tracks were much better live.

Agreed!

Black Cherry is my favourite too, followed by Felt Mountain.

Looking forward to their next album!

I think they perhaps released the wrong lead single. I don't know why but I just don't like 'Rocket'. 'Alive' would have been a better 1st single imo

are you one of those teens whose cannabis use had knocked points of your IQ?

By the way a group is plural, not singular: 'ABBA are', 'Oasis are..', etc

I think Rocket is a great song but it is Marmite Believer, Alive or perhaps Head First would have been a better more accessible indicator of the album.

He could be referring to 'Alison Goldfrapp is crap'.

However-as she's not, lets go with the cannabis theory.

Love the Supernature era, but, its hard to pin point definite favs of the groups back-ctatlogue, cos there's too many gr8 singles/album tracks to identify - theres literally an 'embarrasment of riches' to plunder...!

I s'pose Seventh Tree is my least played album of the bunch, but, I still like it alot & 'Clowns' is one of their most poignant songs ever.

Currently, Head First is still my favourite of their catalogue.

I just hope we get another original album... SOON!

No but he does post almost exclusively to get a reaction out of people while feigning stupidity.

You Never Know is one of my favourite all time songs by any artist.

I wasn't overly struck on the overt accessibility of Rocket and so never ventured beyond Seventh Tree in regards to albums. And since I always favoured Black Cherry, Supernature rarely got a look in on my ipod. But it's a fine album.

I felt a bit disappointed that they dropped their established synth sound in favour of a more acoustic production on The Seventh Tree, perhaps one of the reasons why I never got on with that album.

In a way, it's a shame that they became so popular, so quickly - or more to the point, Goldfrapp's style of sythpop became so popular, so quickly.
