Rate 'Our Version Of Events' from 0 to 10
10/10 for sure. Excellent album from start to finish. It has so many meaningful lyrics that come from the heart. I love Emeli's modern spin on soul and R'n'B. If you don't have the album you are missing out.

There's just *something* missing in Emeli's voice. Yes, she is a good singer but not great and some of the songs highlight that, like "My Kind Of Love" for instance.
She really needs to growl out that chorus but she sounds a little shrill and underpowered. Her voice isn't doing her material justice. |

I gave it an 8
It's been a highlight for me this year but i feel the first three singles she released were actually a poor representation of what the album went on to be like. There are no others songs like Heaven, there are more acoustic ballads like My Kind Of Love. Not because that is an issue but i feel her label or herself were a bit sly in the singles choices. |

Some decent songs, some filler and only one song that really stands out. I think Emeli's inherent lack of personality shines through. |

Have you met Emeli in person to see what her personality is like??

I gave it a 9!
![]() I wouldn't hesitate to give it a 10, but I think 'Hope' and 'Maybe' are not up to par with the rest of the album. They're great tracks, but not amazing. That said, I'm looking forward to seeing her progress as an artist.

Just got this album and i do like it, i'm just finding it harder to get into than i thought. A few songs are filler but some great stand-out tunes as well. What i find annoying about the album mainly is the sound quality-very poor on some songs and the music tends to overpower her voice. It doesn't help when she sings low. I thought it was just my cd player in the car at 1st but the same on my home cd player. Still all in all a good album which i rated a 7.

I think there's quite a lot of filler on it to be frank, but equally some standout tracks.
Heaven, My Kind of Love (although the 'Live from Hollywood version on the single ep is much better), Read All About It, Clown, Where I Sleep are all brilliant. But songs like Maybe, Suitcase, Mountains, Hope, they don't really do much for me. It's a sold debut though - 6/10 |

I gave it an 8 I think that's fair she got a good voice and there's some great songs on there with a little bit of filler that holds it back, but overall it's a good album.

I give it a 9, lyrically the album is beautiful and I can relate to it quite a lot (weirdly, this album seems to be summing up 2012 for me) and songs like Maybe & Suitcase are just beautiful.
I feel like her next album is going to evolve a lot more though and I think she'll embrace the sound of Heaven Daddy & Wonder a bit more... I hope she continues to work with Naughty Boy though, I feel like they make an excellent team and I'm not sure how the dynamic would change in her music if she moved on from him. |

9/10 - There's just one song that I'm not that fond off - Hope - but apart from that, I enjoy listening to every song. I only decided to get it after "My Kind of Love" was released, and I'm glad I did.
Why are there people voting for 0? It's not God-awful and unlistenable.

I gave it 5. It's a fairly decent album, and very consistent, but there's not much diversity shown. In some ways this is excellent as it stops non-cohesion posing as eclecticism, but for some reason I just don't remember any of the songs because none of the melodies were strong enough to stand out from one another. Only 'Next to Me' stood out for me.
