EE: Mitchells returning?
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds17463.html
EastEnders producers have offered to double Letitia Dean's £150,000 contract, according to the Sunday Mirror today. The soap's new executive producer Kathleen Hutchinson is apparently desperate to keep Letitia (Sharon Watts) on the show, as part of a new storyline which would see the Mitchell brothers returning. Letitia is taking six months off from the show next year, and it was originally thought that she was leaving the soap for good. However, she is now being convinced to stay, with the promise of a sensational new love triangle involving Phil and Grant Mitchell. An insider told the newspaper, "Bosses are terrified that Letitia might not come back. Sharon is one of the most popular characters and bosses fear that ratings will continue to plummet if she goes. As far as they are concerned, Sharon is the Queen of Walford and they will do anything to keep her. "They are convinced that reuniting her with Phil and Grant Mitchell is sure to be a massive hit with viewers. Her salary increase would make her the highest-paid actress on Albert Square but they think she's worth it." The newspaper also claims that Barbara Windsor (Peggy Mitchell) will return to the show next summer. |

How on earth can Phil Mitchell return? He was caught red handed comitting an armed robbery and then escaped from prison. I suppose the police will just forget about this will they? Or will the last 12 months just be a dream Dallas style

The dream idea is our Kathleens only bet of Phil returning and Den still being dead. But then of course, Barry would still be breathing as would Laura, Mark and the war hero. Janine would still be around, as would Ricky, Lisa, Lynne - the list goes on and on.
I really hope if Gwant does come back he'd run Dennis out of Walford - FOREVER. |

Everyone with sense knows that putting Sharon’s lovers in order would result in:
Grant Phil Tom The bloke who followed her from the states to be with her ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dennis "The Menace" Rickman. Sharon has one issue with men and that’s children, she either leaves them because she can't reproduce, or they leave her because she can't reproduce. Surely she can use IVF, implant one of her fertilized eggs into Michelle and there you go Shazza a sprog of your own. Other wise adopt like your darling parents did. For 8 years Pauline helped raise Vicky and yet as soon as Dirty old Den comes back, she drops her granny faster than you can say “ROGER”. |

Sharongate originally was fantastic, superbly written and played out beautifully, genuinelly exciting and one of the best ever soap love triangles. I just feel trying to recreate this many years later could be a huge mistake. I can understand them wanting to do something that was so successful again, but surely it would be better for EE to move onwards, away from rehashing old plots, is it really likely to be as good again? I have major doubts

Phil doesn't deserve any woman, he treats them like dirt! |

Hmmm I'd love to see the Mitchells return, but rehashing Sharongate, I'm not sure is such a good idea. I think EastEnders should be moving away from old plots, especially plots like Sharongate because it was fantastic, they should let it be remembered. I'd love to see Phil, Grant, Sharon, Dennis, Chrissie and Peggy all in Walford together. Peggy is apparently returning in the summer.
Grant and Chrissie, now theres a match made in heaven. If Sharon sells the club, the Watts will own the Vic, however I've heard Sam manages to claw back half of the Vic from Chrissie, meaning it would be a Watts/Mitchell owned business!

EE will not work if it keeps going back to old storylines and relying on past glories to keep it going. Why can't they move on from the past and stop trying to be like it was years ago. First Den comes back, then Sharongate, what next - Angie returning from the dead, Pete and Kathy back on the market?

This is fantastic news. I wonder how Phil will return. His return may have something to do with the departure of Den Watts. Perhaps Phil and Grant have something to do with Den's death in April.
Wouldn't it be great to have Dennis Jnr and Grant fighting over Sharon. It would also be nice to see Grant sort Andy out as well

It would be a really bad mistake to bring back the Shazza love triangle. Look what happened when they tried to resurrect Den - have they learned nothing? By trying to go back to past glories, you just ruin the characters forever.
I do hope they don't bring Phil back, I didn't like him and there is no convincing way of getting him back in. I wouldn't mind Grant coming back - although I am not convinced it would work, they have already got the Moon brothers coming in, EE would be top heavy with heavies .

A: nothing is confirmed. This is just Sunday morning tabloid tittle tattle.
B: If Phil & Grant were to return then this love quad-angle should end up as a threesome between Dennis, Grant and Sharon
