To me he lacked a top draw Doctor/Companion relationship, when compared to the previous Doctors.

I agree with your point and as has been mentioned Davison had several 'guest companions' during his era who worked better with him than his actual companions.

For me, Nerys Hughes in this story was the best of those 'guests'. There was some really nice and easy banter between them which was refreshing after all the arguing between the regulars in this Season.

It also felt very grown up and I felt she was more on his level and think this was the sort of companion Davison really should of had.

Well it is the best episode in the show Imo.

But i mean in his entire 3 seasons he was underrated.

I dont know whether it was because its his last story but that script was deffinately a hell of a lot better. I dunno if they would have gotten better had he stayed unless Twin Dilema was always on the cards.

Turlough had a promising start in Mawdryn Undead, but after the Black Guardian trilogy he was just "there"

I do wish Nyssa had stayed on rather than Tegan... she wasn't particularly amazing but she was at least watcjable and didn't spend every episode begging to go "beck to the Tairdis"

Despite the lack of interesting companions, though, Davison's tenure is criminally overlooked. He's not my favourite Doctor (I'm afraid I'm a little ageist in thinking older people play the role better) but some of his stories were amazing, with Castrovalva and Frontios being often sadly overlooked, and he certainly didn't reach Tom Baker's lowest with episodes such as The Invisible Enemy or Underworld.

Tegan had the factor of being a good companion but being extremely irritating at the same time. She didnt want to be there all she wanted was to be at Heathrow in 1982 or whatever year it was. Even the 6 yr old child at the time was glad when she left at the end of the Daleks episode.

It was a strange way of writing a Companion, as he/she is the audience surrogate. If they're not excited by seeing all of time and space, why should WE be excited?

Fantastic story, entirely owned by Simon Rouse. Absolute tour de force.

I dont know why they did the dirty and wouldnt renew the contract on one companion. Otherwise we could have had Nyssa for another series.

No-one did the dirty - JNT thought that the character of Nyssa had gone as far as she could, and actress Sarah Sutton agreed with him. So she was written out. It was a mutual decision.
Why not check out the facts before you start typing?

You again.

The actress said she didnt know she was going to be let go. I felt the character was better than Tegan.
