Hello all, my first post...

*(sorry posted question in wrong subject forum!! Moved to Freesat...)

I think I have a strange issue with my freesat tuner in my Panasonic TX-P46G20B TV, however as I have little experience with Freesat it may be a simple fix (with your help).

We have been using Sky+HD for the past few years, last year we bought the above TV that has a Freesat tuner built in. Last month we canceled Sky as I discovered that we could pick up the UK Freesat channels here in the Republic of Ireland.

What I have found out is that when I plug in either one of the downleads from the dish to the TV it will ONLY find Astra2 satellite if the other downlead AND(!) an HDMI cable are connected to the Sky+HD box (the HDMI is connected to the TV).
What is also odd is that the Sky box is passive, there is no power lead connected to it, however if I unplug either of the cables (HDMI or Coaxial downlead) the signal drops.

So at present to receive Freesat straight to the TV I have one downlead connected to the (unplugged powerless) Sky+HD box, the other to the Freesat tuner on the TV and an HDMI cable connected from the TV to the Sky box...
Does that sound odd?

Can anyone think why that maybe or what I am doing wrong?
Any tips, suggestions would be much appreciated as I'd like to remove the Sky box from the equation.

Thank you in advance.

Alan

Sounds like you haven't got continuity on the downlead to the TV to power the LNB. What happens if you use the other downlead, currently plugged into the Sky box?
