LG's iPad.
http://www.neowin.net/news/lg-had-an-ipad-back-in-2001
So with Android being essentially a Linux GUI we could easily have had an Android iPad. |

Yet another post from Alan showing he doesn't know what he is on about.
A) The article is mainly using the word iPad like the word 'Hoover'. He's just saying LG produced a tablet in 2001 which had iPad in the name. Not very interesting news given Microsoft have tried tablets for years and years including Windows XP Tablet Edition. The only interesting thing is that LG potentially had a trademark they could have sued Apple over unless they sold it or Apple licensed it from them but your post makes no reference to that anyway. B) "Android being essentially a Linux GUI" is also an extremely confused statement. GUI is just the interface, the design of an interface is pretty irrelevant to the kernel it is running. Yes, Android does have a linux-based kernel at the base (but it also has several layers on top including its Java machine). C) What you're basically saying (if you understood the article properly) is that LG made a tablet in 2001 so we could have had an Android tablet now. c1) Er, Android tablets already exist c2) They have NOTHING to do with what LG made 11 years ago c3) The word 'iPad' in this context has little connection to today's iPad other than the trademark (which everyone agreed was not a great name for a tablet anyway). |
