UK On-demand films all in one place

Hi All

We've built a new site for finding UK on-demand movies. Our initial motivation was the difficulty we had finding good stuff on Virgin, but we've added BBC iPlayer, Sky, Film4oD, NowTV and we'll add more as we go. And it turns out there's lots of great movies out there!

The site is at http://movies.tanktop.tv
and we'd love your opinion on it - please post comments (good and bad, trivial or profound) in responses to this thread.

Thanks very much for your help!

Phil

p.s. If you're really cutting edge take a look at a different approach to the interface at http://movies.tanktop.tv?alt=1

It seems to work fine, but does it do anything that findanyfilm.com doesn't?

Looks good, will you be adding in the likes of Netflix ?

Hi Inkblot

I think the main thing we're aiming to do that findanyfilm.com doesn't do is provide a good way to browse the available films. We list films with the most popular first (based on rottentomatoes.com data) and allow you to list films from particular providers.

Hi Sniffle774

Yes, Netflix is on our list - the only problem is that their API appears to list the films on their US site and you need to be logged in to see their complete list of movies so it will be a little bit harder to deal with.

It's not a bad site. Though maybe worth adding Blinkbox

Blinkbox is a good idea - we'll take a look at adding that too.

New features

Hi All

Just to let you know we've added a "watchlist" feature so you can save films to watch later, and we now let you customise the list of movie sources. Hope you like the new stuff!

We have now added BlinkBox to our supported services on Tank Top Movies. It's interesting - they are often slightly cheaper than other services for a given film, and they also have quite a lot of free content available.

We also moved into "Private Beta", so new users will need an invitation code - the code "PREMIERE" is good for several more uses. If you already tried the site when we mentioned it here before, you can click on "Existing User" and your account will be there.

Hope you like it - and your feedback is very welcome!
Liz

And we also now have LoveFilm listings as well.

(We're still figuring out how to deal with NetFlix!)

It looks like that invitation code is fully used up now

Thanks cy_bones. I've added a bunch more uses so the invitation code PREMIERE should work again (and here's the link to Tank Top Movies again)

Looks like a really useful site - in addition I'd also recommend this one:

Thanks Iggyman. Thanks for pointing out the Moreflicks site too - nicely designed. From a quick look I think they're listing content from the US versions of Hulu & Netflix, right?

Yup, that's right - but not just those, ALL Netflix sites (ie find a movie, click on it and click the Netflix banner and it'll tell you which Netflix sites it's available on).

Oh yes, I see that now. Thanks! We'll investigate how we can add Netflix to Tank Top Movies too - I guess it must now be possible to get the country information through their API.

We have now added Netflix - so we're now listing films from eight different sources on Tank Top Movies:
  • Netflix
  • Lovefilm
  • NowTV
  • BBC iPlayer
  • Film4oD
  • Blinkbox
  • Sky Anytime
  • Virgin TV

We're thinking of adding YouTube too. Anyone use any other services you'd like to see on there as well?

And we've also now added Services -> Compare Services so you can see how many of the films you want to watch are available on the different providers.
