Desperate Housewives: latest eppy got 27 million viewers in the States!!
ABC Feels 'Housewives' Ratings Heat Sunday
Mon Nov 29, 2004 11:54 PM ET By Cynthia Littleton LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - ABC's red-hot "Desperate Housewives" turned positively volcanic on Sunday, delivering its highest ratings to date. "Housewives," which featured the death of a cast member, averaged 27 million viewers and 12.4 rating/26 share in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. "Housewives" is already the undisputed runaway hit of the new season, but at this rate, it's going to give CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" serious competition for bragging rights as this season's top-rated program overall. In its second half-hour, viewership of "Housewives" peaked at 28.4 million viewers and 13.1/28 in the key demo. ABC was also rock-solid at 8 p.m. with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" (18.2 million, 7.5/17), but at 10 p.m., drama "Boston Legal" (14 million, 5.9/14) had a hard time capitalizing on its "Housewives" windfall. Going against the buzzsaw of "Housewives," NBC had only a ho-hum turnout for its 9-11 p.m. original TV movie, a musical rendition of "A Christmas Carol" starring Kelsey Grammer (9.7 million, 3.0/7). The network fared better from 7-9 p.m. with its repeat telecast of the 2001 animated blockbuster "Shrek" (10.9 million, 3.8/9). Fox also had a computer-animated offering in the same time slot with "Ice Age" (9.1 million, 3.4/9), followed by repeats of "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill" at 9 p.m. (6.8 million, 2.9/6). CBS' lineup was thrown off for the night by a football overrun that spilled over into at least the first half-hour of primetime. But ABC had no competition for the nightly bragging rights, ranking No. 1 by a mile in total viewers (17.8 million) and adults 18-49 (7.3/17). -------------------- A primetime soap with a truly contemporary take on "happily every after," this new hour- long drama takes a darkly comedic look at suburbia, where the secret lives of housewives aren't always what they seem. Looking down on her friends and family isn't a way of life for Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong)... it's a way of death. One day, in her perfect house, in the loveliest of suburbs, Mary Alice ended it all. Now she's taking us into the lives of her family, friends and neighbors, commenting from her elevated P.O.V. Her small circle of girlfriends are wondering why one of their own would do something so rash... and so messy. There's Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), the divorcee and single mom who will go to extraordinary lengths for love; Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), the ex-career woman who traded the boardroom for boredom, mixed with moments of sheer panic as the mother of four unmanageable kids; Bree Van De Kamp (Marcia Cross), the Martha Stewart on steroids, whose family is about to mutiny; and Gabrielle Solis, the ex-model with everything she's every wanted - a rich husband, a big house - so what is she doing with John, the 17-year-old gardener (Jesse Metcalfe)? And there are her neighbors, including serial divorcee Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan), whose romantic conquests have everyone buzzing. Then there are the men: Hunky new neighbor Mike Delfino (James Denton), a supposedly widowed plumber who has Susan and Edie vying for his attention; Rex Van De Kamp (Steven Culp), who's just told Bree he wants a divorce; Gabrielle's better half, Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira), who figures he bought his wife a $15,000 diamond necklace, so she should do whatever he tells her; as for Mary Alice's newly-widowed husband, Paul (Mark Moses), there must be a reason why he's acting so suspiciously - and why he's digging up the pool in the middle of the night! From her unique vantage point, Mary Alice sees more now than she ever did alive, and she's planning to share all the delicious secrets that hide behind every neighbor's closed door in this seemingly perfect American suburb. ---------------- i cannot wait for this to start on Channel 4, I hope its as big a hit here as it is in the States. Mainstream Marcia Cross

It's got to be 9pm. 10 pm will be far too late.
I have a feeling that it wont go above 5 million viewers though simply because it is on channel 4. |

it would be good for chanel 4 if became a hit like friends and pulled in 5 million or so but if got publicity wife swap once got and god reviews could it beat channel 4's wife swap high of 12 million.but might end up pulling in 3 milion which is still good for channel 4 as they will keep anything on at 9pm as along rates above 1.5 million.programes on sundays usually do well for channel 4 such as the ultimate film where from 10pm onwards was puling in 4.9 milion.

I have downloaded the first eight episodes and have to say I am hooked. What makes it so great is that it is different, very different to anything else. It has the charm that Moonlighting had and a spoofy Knots Landing feel but im probably just saying that as Nicolette Sheridan is in it (well she isn't in it much) oh and she looks awful now.

Go here http://search.suprnova.org/ and type desperate housewives in search but first install something like http://bittorrent.com/ and click the link and it will download automatically in folder you have picked. Look around as that is not the fastest program for a lot of people. I use bitcomet and it's the bees knees.

Desperate Housewives rating highly is great news for ABC, because they have been looking for a hit for some time and are at risk of slipping to fourth place....if they haven't already, due to Fox gaining large audiences.

I know that when you download stuff from soapcity they tell you to delete the episode from your hard drive after your finished watching.

Do you think people would actually do that though, especially if it is an amazing episode you watch on SoapCity?

All depends on size of your hard drive but the files are small only around a third of 1 gig so 3 episodes would take you over just 1 gigabyte. The link to the bittorent I put pretty much explains what to do. http://search.suprnova.org/ also has many other T.V shows and much more

Unlike Kazzaa it is very trustworthy but I would still advise running files through a virus checker but I dont think avi or mpeg files have viruses usually they are in exe files or similar.

Beginnings, are you keeping every episode stored on your comp or deleting to save space? |
