Galaxy S3 Basic Question - re Contacts
Elanor

I'm sure this has a simple answer, but I can't find it anywhere through googling (or haven't yet).

I have had to re-enter all my contacts on the S3, as I'm not putting my old sim card in the new phone. But the fields for inputting contact details only include name, phone number and email address. Is there anyhere I can add postal addresses, landlines and birthdays? On my Galaxy S it was all in the same place, but doesn't appear to be on the S3 unless I'm missing something obvious.

Not sure about how to do it on the phone, but you can do it on your Google account online. Much easier too as well since your using a keyboard and not a phone to enter all your data. Then it just syncs with the phone.

I suppose I could set up a google account...

If your going to use an Android phone, you really want to. Otherwise you will not be taking full advantage of all it's features. Plus I think you can't use the Android Play store if you don't have one.

Oh right, I didn't know that, thanks. Although having said that, it did let me download a couple of apps last night...

Anyway, I've worked out the contacts thing - if you save to Sim it only has fields for name, number and email address, but if you save to Phone there are all the other fields.

Thanks for the help.

Thats correct.

What i would recommend doing is saving them all to your google account. This way if you get a new phone in the future all your contacts appear when you log into your google account.

The same goes for email accounts/apps etc...

It's one of the great things about having a google account.
