Following the loss of my beloved 18 year old tortie in June my family have decided its time to bring a new furry purry friend into our home. our new family members (a ginger girl and a tabby boy) will be moving to our house in about 3 weeks old . I have 2 questions

1) whats the best way to get the kittens to feel settled (its be so long since our tortie moved in I cant remember if we did anything special)

2) as our Kittens are brother and sister I want to get the spayed/nutered asap whats the youngest that this can normally be done

thanks

I got kittens 5 weeks ago (my first)

They came from a rescue/foster home, and when I went to choose them, I took a blanket with me, which I left there, and then brought home with me when they came home, so it smelled of where they had been.

When I got them home, I opened the cat box and let them explore themselves, I fed them shortly after we got home, and then we spent the evening together with me gently offering cuddles and strokes if they wanted. Within an hour or so they were curled up fast asleep, and then just as I wanted to go to bed, they were wide awake and wanted to play.

I had visitors round within a day or so as I wanted them used to people. To be honest the whole thing has gone brilliantly. They came from a home where they had been very well socialised and looked after. They had their 2nd jabs this week, as my garden is safe and secure (it's all patio and decking) they've been outside in that since they came home with me as well (even though some would say you shouldn't til the jabs are all done)

As for neutering, my boy is 3 weeks older than my girl, so he's getting done a week on Tuesday, when he will be 19 weeks old, my girl will be done at the same age.

They've been a lot of fun, you'll probably need to feed them more regularly than an adult cat, mine are fed 3 times a day with wet food, and have access to biscuits all day.

Shout if you think of anything else, like I said though, these are my first two, so I'm just going on my own experiences.
