For people who claim "she's had her five minutes of fame" you love to discuss her so much, an eight page thread too.
That's more to do with the to-and-fro between fans that won't admit they're wrong or see no fault in their heroine, non-fans who don't like her, saying how they think 'it is' and general banter between both than 'love' of discussing her; it's more about getting the last word on the topic.

Her career has been one drama after another since the release of her last album. Even her stanchest supporters must admit that and public car crashes are morbidly fascinating and generate discussion.

I suppose my interest in her is more to do with the fickleness of fame and watching the rise and fall, her fall has been spectacular and I would love to hear how she's coping with it, whether or not she's deluding herself.

This whole year has been weird. I dont think crowd size had anything to do with it because she'd know how many would be there in advance and she's sang at Pride there before. It's one if her biggest annual gigs. It just doesn't make sense. And why would you haul your backside down there to have 'issues'. None of it makes sense. She still should've performed though. I remember when I saw her first time and I had to move hell and earth to be there. I'd have preferred an acoustic gig too. I love how she always draws in people who don't like her lmao...

Hang on.

Performing in chip shops? Throwing ten minute tantrums at "fan dinners"? Maybe I should head on down to KFC with a boombox to see if I can set the charts alight!

Her world sounds MENTAL. This thread has made me like her a bit. Her management, or lack thereof, at the moment; were/are unprofessional and painfully basic.

Even Steve Brookstein had a coffee shop tour.

There's nothing she can do. Capital and Radio 1 are just not interested (the latter never have been). Im mad her and her team did not put the album out in march. Everyone who buys pop knows who she is...SmH. That's why I'd I get into music in planning stuff myself. I won't be here for messy releases...I wish she'd be more wise with her career. There are lots of things she had to bear in mind that her contemporaries don't.

When did that happen? Bear in mind the media never ever give her good press and never have. It's either neutral or negative. It's well thought out. They know negative press works. They never mention the charity she does. Same for others.

God knows, but her stans have mentioned it more than once in this thread as a defence with regard to Alex refusing to play smaller venues.

Oh. She's sang this year for like 15 fans and then 200 punters and then 2k at Hyde Park.

That would be all well and good if Alex was just a mime artist like certain other popstars but the right equipment is crucial not only for the performance but the health and safety of her voice. But of course she can't do anything right and she's just being a diva.

If someone prevented you from doing your 'job' in the 'real world' I'm pretty certain you would expect that all the things you needed to complete your job were there and if not you would complain.

Singers do this ALL the time....Nicki recently just cancelled V festival which her fans had paid for and were expecting to see her, but you don't see a 5 page thread calling her a diva and just generally attacking her around here do you? There's just a nasty attitude towards Alex around here and a horrible double standard, and quite frankly some people should be ashamed...she's in a terrible state at the moment and at a recent fan dinner everyone who aattended said she burst out crying for 10 minutes because of all this.
Apologies if this comes across as incredibly mean/pathetic/shameful but am I the only one who finds that absolutely hilarious?

You're right, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Because I imagine it in a great hall with a long table that Queen Alexandra is at the head of, where all of her fans are sat in awkward silence as their monarch weeps into her chicken. For 10 whole minutes.

Nah. It's sad that her own country treat her like a dog when she's one of the Best talents we have. She's probably upset that there's nothing she can do. No it was just a simple restaurant lol. Imagine every day you get death threats, messages saying you have no value, people taking rhempiss out of you wherever you go, you can't do the thing you love and are best at from the same who supported you are tearing you down. And the fact that others outside the UK are )
(who are fans) are perplexed by the uk acting the way they do towards her and are shocked by the behaviour. You'd think she had no talent at all. Her music needs to improve but so does Cheryl's, Gaga (btw was a no) and Katy and many others. I bet he she had AirPlay she'd sell fine. I mean Bom Bom Bom just hit #1.

Music performers, especially pop stars, often have very little control over their career trajectory. Everything is sorted for them - where they will play, when they will record and release their next album, what singles will be released and even what songs to sing (if they don't write their own, which many pop stars don't).

There has been many a bust-up between artists and management for decades (even the Sex Pistols disintegrated because of tensions between the band and manager Malcolm McLaren).

So perhaps Alexandra Burke didn't have much choice whether to perform or not. The issue may very well have been out of her hands. Presumably her management were protecting their asset by not allowing her to perform in sub-standard conditions. For managers it's all about the money and a poor performace would mean poor sales of the next record or bad publicity.

I've no idea whether Burke is nice or nasty or a "diva" or whatever the gossip columns want us to think. The truth is much more likely that it was a management decision and she had no say in the matter.

I don't think you could have picked a worse example.

The Sex Pistols were arguably the most manufactured band since The Monkees!

McLaren picked the members, his girlfiend dressed them and the sacked Matlock wrote the songs.
They recorded one proper album and the whole thing ended in disaster within a couple of years.

Their notoriety has little to do with the music they put out.

The uk does not hate her she won x factor, had the biggest winners song ever and doesnt it have some sort of record? Also her first album sold 800,000 plus so im not buying the pathetic excuses her weird fans come out with (some even tried to claim racism) Her album bombed because it is shit. End of. Elephant was an auto tuned mess and let it go sounded the same and had basically the same video.
And if people dont like her personality that is there opinion but she doesnt help her self buy refusing to play gigs and having pathetic excuses and saying things like OK.COM which, literally, made the whole nation cringe.

Says it all really. Resorting to petty insults is a bit low rent and unnecessary even if you don't like Alex.

Maybe none of this is Alex's fault, maybe like her fans constantly state she herself has done nothing wrong. It could be that she has no say in what music she records, no say in what she wears, what she sings, where she sings, what she says on TV.

Its not that farfetched to picture her as a total puppet to her music exec bosses who have been calling the shots all along. Everything worked out well the first time, so its no wonder she would follow them blindly this time around.

This is why I don't think I personally could support an industry puppet. Every album, every single requires someone else to deliver the goods. At least with an artist who writes their own songs and has an artistic vision for their music videos/performances only has to rely on themselves to produce the songs and then their is some level of consistency in the quality of their work.

Some of the artists I support may never reach the highs that Alex's career once had but right now they're in a much better position and I'm sure none would want to trade careers with her.

Gosh poor girl doesn't do too great with gay venues. Her concert at The Nightingale, Birmingham pretty much bankrupted it.

Genuine question because I really don't know ...

Did the "OK DOT COM!" incident happen before 'Elephant' or after?
