Yeah - I got a little ahead of myself as far as our re-watch. I don't think he thought about it at first. I think it was several episodes into the series that he considered it. But I don't think he considered it for long - just a momentary madness

We'll have to watch for that and try to break it down as we head through this series in the re-watch. My thinking right now is that the thought of sharing the hotel room was what brought him to his senses. I'll watch more closely when we get to that episode.

That is the one with Wallace and Paddy - S1E3. He says to Wallace (?) 'where's the receptionist' , he shrugs and then DM says 'cheap looking, late 20's"

He is SO different from Doc Martin -- really hard to imagine how he does it.

i just realized last night that the title of this episode is "The Devil You Know" -- shorthand for "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know" -- which It think means just what you said here. A relationship with Edith he must know would be easy and make few demands on him -- he could sleepwalk through life with her as ShopGirl aptly put it -- but Louisa and now a newborn is terra incognita and that in itself makes it scary.

I love Edith. She was just the character needed to stir things up, great lines and Lia Williams is excellent.

I know Biffpup -- it's odd. We know he prefers his "locks" to the Doc Martin haircut, so why do it? But if they're filming somewhere other than Port Isaac, e.g., London, I think we would know about it.

He does say he's going down to Cornwall "next month" so I expect in a very few weeks we'll begin to get info about casting calls -- and the age of the infant/child called for will tell us a lot.

Goodie! This is the one with that great scene between Auntie Joan and Martin when she finds out that Louisa is pregnant. Love it!

The DM haircut might be for MC to get into character - to help with the rewrites and rehearsals - and/or to get rid of any tan lines that may have occurred around the longer hair.
