Don't know how genuine this is, but a channel/group called GSM Israel claim to have posession of the new iphone. Is this the real thing? More of the same plus larger screen?

Well it does look pretty much like....well, an iphone! If this is the final design. But I guess Apple wouldn't really do anything drastic. From their point of view, why change a winning formula? Same perhaps could be said about the OS. Millions of people will still buy it. So maybe they are going on the old adage of if it ain't broke don't fix it?

I also wonder how much room they have for change, before crossing in to patent infringing territory? Since they have been so aggressive towards Samsung, I am sure Samsung would be chomping at the bit to pull Apple up on infringing their patents. So I think Apple have had to tread very carefully when it came to crafting their latest handset. I think they have left it late, they should have been setting the innovation and standard progressively. Cos they have stagnated so badly in software terms and hardware, whilst others have been coming up with every design concept under the sun, how much space to Apple now actually have to come up with something "original"?

Still you would think there would be some evolution now from previous models. We shall soon see when it's officially unveiled. As for now I guess this is the best we have to go on.

I guess thats what happens when you spend all your time and effort in the courtroom, and less time in the development studios! Apple seem to be more a law firm these days than a technology company.

It's not like they strayed far from the first version even before they spent all their time in the court room.

Maybe they should be aware of the saying "familiarity breeds contempt".

As someone who's owned 3 iPhones over the years, I can't see any reason to upgrade, it's just a slightly bigger version of what I have now.

Well hopefully that is the actual iPhone 5, Just like my TV's/Laptops/PC ect they have all kept a similar look to previous models but massive improvements in power ect.

I just hope it doesn't come like a breeze block with a over sized screen. I'm already leaving this S3 at home when I got out the damn thing is embarrassing to make a call on.

I will keep the much better iPhone 4s until I see the spec's of the iPhone 5 and make a decision from there. I liked the S3 for a day, but I'm seeing its basically junk. No wonder there is already a newer S3 heading to market.

I feel sorry for the poor suckers stuck with the current S3, the one I have is going back its just junk.

Can anyone say troll?

You didn't have any S3. Still waiting for pics of you with it but you wont post them....No surprise there i guess

You feel sorry for me then all you like because whatever you think about the S3, its infinitely better than any iphone will ever be.

I wonder if they will cripple the iphone 5 with underclocked CPU speeds again....

There wont be any massive improvement in power either going on other websites.
Still a dual core cpu, same camera better optics,no NFC,only slightly taller screen.
Might as well stick with that 4S.

To be fair, We don't yet know what is under the hood, spec wise and what they got going with the OS. After releasing the 4S which was an incremental update in both the spec and OS, they need a bigger leap with this model. If it's again just a small update, there would be no real justifcation to upgrade, unless you are a new customer looking for a phone.

Will be a different CPU i think. Ram will always be crap as always, there apparently is NFC but apple will naturally cripple that, camera was ok on the 4S shooting full HD. Got some good holiday videos from it. Hopefully the screen on the new iphone has a bit more oomph in it, as colours on the 4 and 4S are rank.

It will still sell by the shed load. People here have said they will definitely buy it even when they knew zero about it. It says "Apple" on it. That's enough for a lot of people.

EDIT,

Just not worth it.

I have noticed though any image's or videos on the iPhone screen appear more detailed than they do on the S3, I guess this is down to the iPhone having a higher/better PPI count.

An PPI really matters in screen quality.

Oh...So when you constantly slag of EVERYTHING about the iPhone that ok.

When I'm equally positive and negative about the S3 that's trolling? The phone is junk in the terms its been crippled with news the new one is coming.

The current S3 will drop in value massively.
You didn't have any S3 so your in no position to slag it. I had the 4S and it was like everything else apple, a pile of crap.

Your positive about the S3? Where? You just said the whole thing was an embarrassment to use. The value also wont drop massively if at all in fact. The LTE version will just cost more....obviously...

But with 3 and T-Mobile about to roll out (hopefully) 4G on 1800 the current S3 looks like a very bad buy.

By the way I still have the S3, so I don't know why you say I "didn't" have one.

Because we all await the pics to prove you do. You know like i did with my 4S, S3 and my computer?...

It also wont be a bad buy because most people just now wont care about LTE. Like myself.

oooooooh.

"T" ... (can i call you that ?) .... care to wager what 'massive improvements' will be shown in the iPhone 5 ? Apple have such a history of 'massive improvements' each year .... dont they ?

Sad to hear that you arent enjoying your latest "purchase" .... and there was me expecting you to be all won over and cosy with your S3

(and no I dont have an S3)

Why else do you think they've been running around suing everybody else...? It's all they can do.

Well it's slick and functional so why fix what isn't broken? Android has only just caught up with it in terms of smoothness. Maybe iOS will be attempting to catch up with Android in terms of features!
