Does anyone offer a pay monthly tarrif where I can set the credit limit that won't be exceeded each month?

I have seen the T-Mobile mix-it plans but wasn't too impressed with the value.

Anyone else offer the ability to set your own limits?

I'm probably setting myself up to be corrected, but I'm fairly sure that Orange does offer this service, in fact, I'm pretty sure most networks will if you ask them.

I know when I had my first phone on Vodafone back in 1995 I requested this service, and was given it with no question.

However, that was 9 years ago, and as I said, I may be wrong.

O2 do it for free, both my brother and my sister's mobiles are all set to a credit limit.

It depends which Service Provider you're with. I used to be with Carphone Warehouse O2 and had a monthly limit set. Now I'm with O2 Online and they won't do it!

o2 and Vodafone have now stopped credit limits for sure.

There was a feature on "Brassed Off Britain" where people had bought contract mobiles for their children or whatever and had setup monthly spending limits like £20 - £50 etc... However the limitations failed and they got bills in excess of £250!!!

Opting for a service which makes sure you don’t go over your monthly limit sounds like a good idea, but if the service does not work you could be landed with a hefty bill at the end of the month.

Many viewers have had problems with Vodafone and O2 usage limit services. Diane Preston wanted a foolproof service so that her son would not spend hundreds of pounds every month, but when the Vodafone service did not work she was landed with a bill of £243. When Joni Rowan’s O2 £100 usage limit service did not work when her mobile was stolen she was left with a bill of over £354.

O2 have ended their usage limit scheme, and say it wasn't designed to ensure bills don’t exceed the limits, while Vodaphone admit that their spend checker service has limitations and as a result will not be offering it to new customers.
Hope that is of some help. Not sure if any other networks offer it.

This is what happened to us, my mother got my sister a contract with a credit limit that was £20, but everymonth it would go well past this. They ended up letting us cancel the contract after 4 months because they said they could offer something that they obviously couldn't.

The billing systems are not in real time therfore meaning if you want a £20 limit its best to set an actual limit with the company of £15 , by the time the system notices you have spent £15 you will have spent around £20.
The only way the operators could operate such a true system is if they invested in new billing systems , but of course then they would lose loads of revenue so it won't happen.

I suggest getting a 3 pay as you go mobile , you buy a voucher which lasts for 30 days , with £25 a month you can get 500 minutes.

Well O2 said they do not offer the service at all! This was 6months back now, solved the problem and put her on pay as you go!
