Seems a bit "soon" after the initial lauch. If this was true I can see a LOT of peed off people.

I imagine they may bring this out with the white version that was spotted a few times too...Makes sense if Apple really is heading to release an iPad Mini.

You are right I would for one be peed off if this was true and was only a little more dearer than I payed for the 16g wi-fi only Nexus 7 about 7 weeks ago.

I'd be more pissed off if they brought out an SD card version!

I will be surprised if it happens so quickly. Thank goodness for healthy competition

Me too, but for the opposite reason. I'd have to consider buying one.

Not sure i understand the desire for 3G tablets. Im assuming you then have to pay a separate monthly subscription.

i just tether to my phone ???

can anyone explain why its necessary to go 3G on a tablet (excluding the obvious - "if you have forgottent your phone")

genuine query ....

the only place i thought this might be useful was the 3G kindle where 3G was actually free - even abroad. that seemed quite a bargain.

My wife for example has a nokia pay as you go phone she uses once in a blue moon so a month payment plan is pointless for her plus currently shed has no tethering capability, I plan to get a 3G tablet, insert a 3 data only SIM that lasts 3 months (or 3GB) for £10 a time.

My Tesco SIM only deal has data but doesn't allow tethering (technically it works but it's against their T&C's)

Tethering can drain the phone battery so not ideal for all situations where you've not got mains power to hand.

I am majorly peed off about this!!! If i had known that this was going to happen i would have waited and bought a 3G version. Google i am NOT impressed!

Just nonsense!!
I will be thinking Ipad Mini next time i am buying a new tablet. No way will it be Google again. Customer lost...

How long should they leave it. If you think you've been ****ed by Google wait for apple.

Well more than 4 weeks!
If the Apple mini ipad has 3g etc then bollocks to Google. It will be bye bye Nexus 7. They got it wrong! I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went with the Nexus as a first time tablet owner. Now only a few weeks later i feel shafted. They will NOT be getting my money again!

Technically if it comes out in 6 weeks, then plus the 6 weeks or so it's already been out, that makes a gap of 3 months.

Did they though? You bought it, so you felt it right for your needs. If 3G is as big of a requirement as you are making out... why did you buy a tablet without it? The Wi-Fi-only Nexus 7 does not become obsolete if (and it's still an 'IF' at this point) a 3G version is released: if I buy an automatic Audi and then 3 months later they release the manual version then I haven't really been "shafted".

I appreciate that there was no "warning" that a 3G version would follow the original tablet, but for a savvy buyer it shouldn't matter: if the non-3G version is suitable, then a 3G version makes no difference to purchase; and if the non-3G version isn't suitable then it shouldn't have been bought.

Whatever you think! I feel let down and will stick the nexus in the damn bin if i want to! It's good but not THAT good. My choice. I chose to trust Google and made a big mistake. If i had known that a few weeks later that a much better version would be available i would have waited. Even if the 3g version is the DBs i won't be buying it. I would rather my money went elsewhere. Poor, very poor!

Yes but a 3g version would have been so much better! I would have chosen to have that if i had known they were going to make one for the OS etc.
If it had come along in a year or so then fair enough but only a few weeks after i bought it!
As i said a lost customer whatever you think!!

Before you bin anything just make sure this is true and not just some Internet rumour!

Lol!
As a first time tablet owner who took them on trust i feel pretty let down though...

I'll bet they don't have a 3g version this side of Christmas. The source is hardly a big techie site and there's barely a whisper on Google+.

Regardless I'm not going to throw my toy out of the pram. Pointless having two sims/ two contracts. It might not be the case right this week, but over time
phone contract + tethering contract will cost more than phone contract with tethering.

Maybe you're drunk or we've just fallen for a joke account, but if you've seriously just deleted your GW account in a hissy fit over a rumour - NOTHING confirmed AT ALL - then it's a little concerning!

Some serious strops going on here!

Don't worry, in a week or so you will have calmed down and it'll all be a lot less infuriating than it appears to be to you right now.

If you were all waiting for a 3G small-form tablet, you made the wrong choice.

Or you considered it not that important, the wrong choice would be to have a hissy fit now.

Either way, the fault is hardly Google's, Asus's or that of the world in general.

You got what you intended to buy. Something better will always come along. That's modern technology. Pay for what you want now - or forever wait for the inevitable better device - but do it like a bleedin' adult instead of a stroppy child.

I doubt this is true as it would be really poor on Google's part to do this. If they were going to release a 3G version they should have mentioned it when the Nexus 7 was announced.

I can however see them making next years version with a 3G option

I don't buy this idea that if you buy something there is some kind of deal that they can't release anything else.

I really don't care what you think. Google have just shafted us. I can appreciate a mindset though that refuses to recognise that.
My money my choice. Seems I made the wrong one. I wont make that mistake again!
Bye bye nexus 7...probably hello Mr apple
