Yes !!!
despite all the Yusef stuff (marrying a man she knew burnt her alive) and kicking Mass out, Yusef was drugging her and was abusive and controlling, so ive forgiven her for that.
I still love Zainab, and im glad to see the old Zainab back and to see Masood and Zainab as a couple again, im glad she let Masood follow his dream.

She is legendary but they really do need to up the game with her, she really needs to interact with more people, the square needs a really strong busbody and Zainabs the one to be it.

Zainab is great, but I feel like a lot of her best stuff is behind her, she is one of the few characters to have actually grown and developed and changed her view on things. She is still has her flaws but most of her major ones have been ironed out and I'm not sure what can be next for her.

It was interesting to see Tanya go to her for bitching in the Minute Mart the other night, perhaps this is the new Dot in the Laundrette type thing...people will randomly go and find Zainab for advice/bitching, I hope so

Yes, Zainab will be a new legend if used properly. Nina has shown that she handles drama well and Zainab is a very likable and popular character. As pointed out, she is sort of the new Dot and I'd argue that she is the new Pauline as well

I posted this this morning and then tonight we had Zainab and Ian who were both superb together. I hope they make more of these two together, it has been commented previously in the show that they can be similar in some ways so it'd be good if they went somewhere with it.

yep, she has the conservative wisdom of Dot and the no nonsense/busy body ways of Pauline. More evidence to tonight that they are finally using zainab as a full on matriarch, its about time really

Well, she has all the things she should:

Round character, with good sides, but also a lot of flaws (or a few big ones, depends on how you look at it i suppose).
Strong family unit, that has the ability to expand without being far fetched, or to shrink, as if one Masood left, the rest is strong enough to fill the hole. No more departures now though, not untill AJ and his wife have settled in.
Rich background, both onscreen and before she came to the Square.
Well liked and respected by most others, but not everyones best friend, like Alfie.
Her beliefs shine through and help define her character, so it sets her apart from all the generic ones (like Cora=Rose etc.)
She is not in the Vic much, but neither is Dot, and Pauline was not one of the people responsible for supplying that business with a healthy cashflow either.

I think her prejudices are going to be her strength, we'll get mad at her, but she will see the other point of view eventually, even if she does not agree, she ends up repsecting people and is generally caring and able to see the good, behind the exterior she despises so much (like she was with Keith and now with Ian.

What Zainab needs now is a connection to the youngsters. This could be difficult, because the only young person she interacts with on a regular basis is Tamwar and he is not friends with any of the present gang at all, Darren and Jodie have gone, so he does not really do much with any of the others. They should have him befriend Fatboy, as Tam needs to get less isolated, but it is also a good thing for him to be like this, with him feeling depressed, he is left by everyone he interacted with outside the family and having the restaurant, yet no money to show for it, gives him very little opportunity to mix with the other teens/twenty-somethings.

I would like Zainab to find one of the teens, maybe Lola in a right state over something and try to get them sorted over a cup of tea. In Lola's case, she would probably be like: O, on your own? Well, should have kept them jeans on then, shouldn't ya? But soon relate to her loneliness (I think this will be an issue, as Ben is gone, she rejected Jay and he will rpobably be chasing after Abi anyway. All she's got is Billy, and for a young girl, that is not much. She has some sort of father alright, but what about friends, or, more importantly, a mum? Zainab could be her agony aunt, het mother figure, or even rolemodel. Those two would be a great team!! As long as Lo does not marry Tam, especially not in full blown dancing, horses, flowers and traditonal style, thanks.

Zainab and Denise are the BEST double act in a long time, better than Garry/Minty, even Poppy/Jodie

I'd say she already is.

I don't really care for Tanya, Sharon, or Kat. I can't bring myself to. If I could pick three female characters I'd have to guarantee would stick from now until... lets say 20 years time... for me, it'd be Zainab, Denise and Shirley.

Zainab's a fluid character, and Nina Wadia's a fluid actress. She can do comedy, she can do tragedy, she can do the abuse storylines, and she can do mental health. I'm not sure there's anything I think she'd struggle with.

Even with Zainab's initial homophobia re: Syed (and Christian) you still felt something for her. And to me, that's not only good characterisation, but it's the measure of good acting, too.

She has the potential; all depends on the the standard of writers. Nina is a good actress, so hopefully!
