It's only on iOS so far.

The BBC are still saying 'coming soon' for Android.

Looking at the graph in that link, what is "Linear TV"? Is that some new jargon for internet-enabled TV and STBs?

Just upgraded...this will come in handy for long train journeys. The downloads are fast as well.

Fast? Maybe my connection is playing up but I found the Dr Who download to be very slow, and gave up on the Parades End one.
I'll keep testing but the jury's out for me.

I tested on an episode of EastEnders which was about 200mb - it downloaded in about 2 minutes.

I notice there's a high quality option for downloads. Is it HD? I don't want to use up my mobile allowance testing it!

That makes sense. The Mail and all would probably be blaming the BBC for people running up huge bills if it was available over mobile networks.

No, it's not HD. I doubt we'll see HD downloading before HD viewing is supported.

It's very good quality SD though, and might even be better than broadcast quality if it's come from a native 16:9 source.

Thanks OP

Love the first review on iTunes. "Why only TV and not radio?"

Some people are never happy

Cool. ITV, 4OD and Sky need to follow suit.

To be honest that's what I thought. There are loads of radio programmes I don't manage to hear and they're not on podcast.

So why tv and not radio?

The man being interviewed on the wireless just now (Radio 4 PM show) was asked about this. I got the impression it was on its way. There are lots of rights issues, apparently.

Thanks. Are you the same 'technologist' that posts on the Points of View forum? Always good reliable info.

Great update, hope we see others doing the same!

I always use my iPhone to stream to my Apple TV as I find it the mst reliable compared to the player on freesat, ps3, Xbox... But this makes it even better.

That is quite annoying for us with unlimited internet.

Spoke to soon... I downloaded today's Master Chef and it won't play on any of my iOS devices.

However if I delete it and stream it, it works fine.

Jut tried it myself and it didn't work for me either. Just the spinning wheel.

However Dr Who worked fine so I think it's just a glitch with this program.
