i have noticed some new addtions to netflix UK, in the various genres, but these are not listed on the 'recently added' section. This is rather frustrating...

Happens all the time... I find most of the "actual" new stuff through checking out the "what's hot on Facebook" and similar categories.

Baffles me why they have a "recently added" as well as a "new releases" category, too...
