Will you buy Next Gen on Day 1?
So the 720/PS4 looks like they may be coming 2014.
Will you all be pre-ordering and buying the consoles on Day 1? Or will you get 6 - 12 months more out of your current consoles to see what others think of the new hardware? If I remember right, the PS3 was £299 at first?! I wouldn't pay that much for a console! |

I probably wouldn't buy it first day, I am not one for rushing out to buy something first minute it is released - I have yet to queue up for anything at a midnight launch.
But depending how flush I am at the time would depend on when I would buy the next gen - also depends on the games and if there is something that I fancy on the console. |

£299 try again it was launched at about £425 for the 60gb. £299 for next gen would be a bargain.

Since I'm so lucky I'll be getting the WiiU as a Christmas present
But if I had to I would probably buy that on the first day because I know what it has to offer and the games that are coming out (hoping the price wouldn't be too steep of course). The 720/PS4 is too soon to say because I don't know what games they'll be releasing and they are definitely ones I'll be worrying about the pricetag. Eventually down the line I'll get either one, maybe both, because I'm sure there will be some good exclusives that would be worth playing. So I think one day down the line I will own them but not sure about first day

The PS3 was £425 when it launched and that was great value for money at the time as it was a games console and a very good upgradeable Blu-ray player.
If Sony are launching the PS4 in 2014 then I will consider a day 1 purchase. Otherwise I have a huge backlog of unplayed games on my desk so I'm not in a rush to move on. |

Yes, day 1 for me.
Normally I've waited but back when the last consoles came out I had just left school - aka no job/no money and before that I had to wait until Christmases and birthdays to get money to put towards it. PS3 was £299 for 40Gb (6 months or so after launch) and £425 for the launch 60Gb. Xbox 360 was £209 for Core and £279 for Premium. I went for the 360 until it was stolen by Royal Mail and then got a PS3 as a replacement as the price had then dropped. I think £299 is acceptable, though. For comparison the Xbox was $299 and the 360 Core version was also $299 - couldn't find UK pricing for the original Xbox. Maybe we'll see $299 again on the 720. |

I'm hoping the PS4 will play PS3/PSN Content. If so, then this will be Day 1 for me as I'll sell my PS3 and the accessories and get the PS4.
If it won't play current content, then I'll wait a year. |

I don't know.
I bought a 360 at launch, but I regretted it as it took so long for there to be any truly great games, so I paid £280 to play... Perfect Dark Zero ![]() I waited for the PS3, as £425 was way too high, and got a 40GB Fat after the price cut. Next gen... It'll depend on: - Price - Games - Backwards compatibility |

No I don't like buying launch model consoles now. If you had an early PS2 or 360 there was a massive chance your system developed faults (Disc Read Error with PS2 or RROD with 360). Early PS3s are most prone to YLODs (though not nearly as much as the PS2 and 360s issues). Nintendo are an exception as they have good reliability, but their consoles seem to be sourced from older more tried and tested parts these days.
Launch day 'version 1.00' consoles are often rushed into production to meet a deadline.Cheap parts are used and quality control shortcuts are implemented to meet supply demands. Plus launch titles are for the most part pretty weak. If people want a launch day console I can see why, but to me you're paying premium money for the worst build that will exist of that console. And lets face it most launch titles are pretty weak. |

I'll probably see what the launch price is and what games are out for them, I'll also wait to make sure any faults are fixed (like what Davonator just posted)

WiiU, it would take a miracle such as extremely low price of £200 with a few games and an extra controller (the xbox rip off controller not the screen)
PS3 successor - yes Xbox 360 successor - no And by the way can we stop referring to them as PS4/Nextbox/Xbox720 etc, they do not have a name yet as far as they have being publicly revealed they don't exist yet, so can we just call them, ''name of console'' successor for now |

Not fussed about PS4 but if the Nextbox has some good launch games and perhaps b/c then yeah, I think it's likely.

I'll probably wait until the majority of the gaming community has moved onto the next gen.

I would wait six months after release and that is dependant on whether there are at least 2 games i wish to play on the console at the time. Otherwise it's a machine in storage.

No.
Don't know which side of the fence I wanna be. I'm hoping both MS and Sony get their next consoles out pretty close together. Next gen will be a considered purchase for me this time around as I will be staying on the side I've choosen. No multi-consoles for me. In my heart tho I think I'd like to go the MS way, but we'll see whats on offer from both companies before deciding. |

I will buy PS4 at launch if there is an Uncharted game and a Killzone game.
Will be getting Vita when KZ Mercenary comes out. |

They've had enough of a backlash on the PS2 BC to be able to engage their brains on that one I would hope. |

For PS3 backwards comparability they would have to use something like the Power 7, which I'm not sure Sony is that committed to doing.
