Corrie - The Killing of Ernest Bishop
In the days when a murder was TRULY shocking....nowadays they're ten a penny in all the soaps.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnlKQ...FDC36940D7950F The aftermath http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmO8VLxdXqc With some great acting from Eileen Derbyshire. When Ed (the man who killed Ernest) was released and after he revealed who he was. I remember Emily saying something like "Mrs Ogden just came out with "She's the wife"" - and from 11.45 you can see how much Hilda's words impacted on Emily....and they bring it up again 25 odd years later. This is what's lacking in soaps today - continuity and characters staying true to themselves, not changing with whatever storyline is thrown at them. |

It's the first time I've ever seen the episode.
Eileen Derbyshire is fantastic. I hate, hate when people call for Emily to be axed. The Ed storyline is and will always be one of my favorites, Eileen, Chris and Sue all had fantastic on screen chemistry and it just worked. I love all the factory girls too, and all the street out showing concern. Though I thought Liz Dawn's acting was a bit... well dodgy. I miss Mike Baldwin too. Johnny was awesome in that role. I loved his final storyline, his actual death was a bit dodgy too but the story was awesome. |
