It's quite handy to see the £5 offer this time of year for birthdays. As an extra gift, i often fill up a small gift bag with chocolates from a tin.

I prefer Quality Streets as i like the hard centers.

I bought some Roses the other day. I had the munchies and they were on offer in the local shop for a small box. They really weren't very nice. Tasted quite synthetic (sp) to me.

Cheapskate....probably with all the ones you don't particularly like too.

Too right, all those nasty orange & strawberry centres, which seem to be so popular on here

.

Unless the receivers are very small children you will be getting a reputation for being very tight.

Council street

I find Quality Street quite 'working class' compared to Roses. I only really like the green triangle things, and not as much as my least favourite Roses.

Quality street, only because of the toffees and I'm not a fan of chocolate.

I LOVED the coffee ones! I was gutted they took them out. Strange how I love coffee sweet but hate the drink..

They usually are expensive this time of year bar the odd special offer. Come Christmas you will be able to get them for £4/£5 a tin again.”

Ha ha, strawberry ones are the best!

Roses - far too many toffees in Quality St.

Back in the day I loved them both, have to say the demise of Cadbury's chocolate over the past few years has been awful, used to love it but now it tastes so different.

I won't buy Roses now, they have messed them up, they all contain Soya and are unrecognisable from Christmas time in the 1980's, 90's and early 00's.

Quality Street wins for me now but the tins have decreased massively!

I did just say it was an "extra gift". Kids like to open lots of things at Christmas and when you've spent a fortune on trainers and console games etc, money can get tight - not me!

The prices are going up, the tins are getting smaller and the best chocolates are being taken out! Can't believe Galaxy truffle got replaced with Twix in celebrations its just not fair

Annual return for this thread. The big "tins" are back in Tescos now. Complete rip-off! This year they have shrunk still further, down to 750g, still priced at £5. The "tins" are now being made out of cunningly-sculpted plastic, so that to the casual glance they look the same, but they actually have huge dimples at the bottom, taking up the space that used to be filled with sweets.
