If Neil is still filming, I think it's for flashbacks and/or dream sequences. There's no way in hell he's still alive after Later, especially after Emma said that he will do anything to destroy Brendan (murder included, I assume ).
I love the theory of Brendan having nightmares about him going after the people he loves 'cause it also means that he can dream about Walker going after Ste, so Kieron might get involved in this storyline, after all... too bad that it's too late now
