Plus, I do think there's obviously a bit more to the plot with the Brady dad. With Doug's dad, it was mainly a bit of a ply device for this wedding stuff, and what I assume will be a nice moment where his dad tells him he's fine with him being gay.
Whereas Pa, from ES's interview, seems to be coming between Brendan and Cheryl. And he abused Brendan, and is properly homophobic. He sounds more like a classic villain.
