Wow, thanks! 52 years ago, it was due for a cover version!

This Silent Night video is shorter than the first one I posted and it streams.

I saw what I think is a wonderful Christmas song on tv yesterday, it is Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth sung by David Bowie and Bing Crosby. I remember seeing the show all those years ago (the Bing Crosby Show) and David was a guest. When they sung this song together, it blew me away. Still does.

That was the 'B' side to 'Cat amongst the pigeons'.
Kept off the top in Xmas 1988 by Mistletoe & Wine!

Eartha Kitt - Santa Baby...

If you hate the Madonna version (and you should), then check out this version to find out how it should be sung.

Didn't Kylie Minogue cover this song? I am sure she did and it was dreadful, really really awful shocking!

For me top 4 are

1. Roy Wood and Wizard: I wish It Could be Christmas Every Day. Still got it on vinyl from al those years ago
2. Wham: Last Christmas
3. Pgues & Kirsty MacColl: Fairy Tale of New York
and

4. Boney M: Mary's Boy Child. It's a great singalong song

Didn't Madonna also do a cover of this song?

I've got to say that the cover is better - but that is probably because it is in stereo - all the Eartha Kitt versions I have are in mono.

My favourite Christmas songs are The Pogues - Fairytale Of New York and Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Very different but I love them both.
