I believe up to 100,000 votes from the Republic of Ireland were lost for some reason on Saturday night!!! I'm not saying all of them were for Tabby, in fact I also voted for G4. However I think its an absolute disgrace that this can happen.
Its not sour grapes that Tabby didn't get through as he no doubt has it made anyway. But I think that it puts forward huge questions to the whole voting method!!!!

Neither have I

I don't mind people posting stuff like this, but get annoyed when they can't or won't back it up it becomes misleading. So some proof would be nice please.

If you don't know how to link to where you found it, then tell where it is and I will see if I can do a link then.

I have been told the same thing, except i was told it was between 200,000 - and 300,000. though as you say, they may not have all been for Tabby, though im guessing the vast majority of them would have been. i was also told that a lot of people couldn't vote because the lines were busy.

So what you are saying is what most of us believe in these shows, that wheather they are good or bad, the majority of the Irish will vote for their own, no matter what Hardly fair is it ?

That means sod talent just vote for your own it's getting as bad as the Eurovision song contest now

I have a good news site in my favourites and am going to look for this article now.

Someone else did come on after the show on Saturday night and said they had voted five times, but they had a text back saying the votes had not been registered. They were asking if they would be charged.

There was a mix up with the voting text/telephone numbers for RI on Saturday night, Kate announced it at some point.

I know from my own phone that when I phoned in I got a recorded message saying that all lines were busy, when I checked my credit I had been charged.

Regarding the source of the information, it was reported on the National News here in Ireland before lunch. If I can find a report on the News website I'll copy it to here.

And once again, I want to say I am not just saying this because Tabby was voted out, there's nothing to say that he would have been out anyway even if it wasn't for these 'missing' votes. I just think its worrying and I posted it really to see if anyone else had the same problem!

I noticed she kept reassuring the ROI that the numbers were coming up, etc.

I actually voted for Steve by phone and text, the phone vote went through ok but I texted about 10 times and only got one reply, does that mean the other nine weren't counted as I also got charged for this??

Thanks kewpee yes I do remember that, I don't think the calls were charged and she gave out the correct text number straight away after apologising the wrong text number was given out, then corrected almost straight away, so those called would not have charged if they didn't register and people would just have revoted.

I can't speak for everyone in Ireland, but obviously we take a certain pride if 'one of our own' as you call it is doing well. And especially when they're as good as Tabby was! I also voted for G4, because I think they're great.
Don't try and tell me that if someone from your county/town was in it that you wouldn't feel like supporting them!!!!!

Pride has nothing to do with it, I never vote for someone just because they are from my home county. I happen to vote on wheather I find them talented or not.

That's OK As it happens I have no idea where Steve comes from, or I didn't until the Saturday gone, whilst listening into my local radio. I never make a point of knowing where the acts come from as I like to judge by their singing talents

I can't see what you see in the Tabs, but my faves from the show in this order most of the way through would have been Steve ............then Rowetta, then Tabby so if Steve ( and thank goodness he didn't ) or Rowetta had gone before Tabs, I would probably have stuck a couple of votes in for him

I don't need a 'link' for this comment: Last Saturday I thought I would vote for Tabby. At first I had the usual busy line and could not get through. I tried again and had the message 'you are barred from being connected'! As soon as the second 'live' ITV1 show started I telephoned again and was told 'the lines are now closed'! As Kate was still asking for the public to vote, I tried yet again and managed this time to register just 1 vote!! (after being told twice that I couldn't). How many other people had the same problem and just gave up trying? I can certainly say that for whatever reasons, their was a problem with Tabby's voting lines in the UK last Saturday.

whatever!! I like tabby but i think steve and G4 deserve to be in the final

Well all I know is that I voted for Tabby because I think he has great talent, his band played in my home town a couple of years ago and even then you could see what a great showman he was. I don't really mind that he's not in the final, he's going to have a great career ahead of him anyway.

But Susann, In the nicest possible way I do think that you live in a very ideal world if you think that people only vote for acts if they think they're talented. They vote for someone because they 'like' a certain aspect about them... that could be that they 'like' that the artist is drop dead gorgeous, it could be that they 'like' that the artist is from a certain area or indeed it could be that they 'like' the act's musical talents.
Lovin G4's Jon!

I do remember watching the repeat on ITV2 and Kate said that they gave out the wrong text number? That could've changed the result. Glad it neve rhtough lol. VOTE G4!!!

If these 'lost' votes came from Ireland, I think we can say that most of them were for Tabby. With the problems that I had when voting for him from the UK as well, this amount of votes could have been very important as we were told half way through the voting period that there was only around 1% difference between all three acts! I think I now know why I was so surprised to see Tabby leave last Saturday!

Is amazing how every week we have this problem.
Last week Rowettas line was dodgy, this week Tabbys.

hmmmmmm whats the betting that whoever is runner up on Saturday, their line will be dodgy too.

Pack it in guys and lose gracefully.

Well, it looks as if it could have been an incorrect result last Saturday - I suppose Tabby would have a case for legal action or demand compensation etc... but I suppose 'they' will have smoothed things down with him in some way!

I know for a fact that there were problems with Tabby's lines in the UK - after being told the lines were closed - when they were NOT!!!
